Questions about satallite radio

1. My dealer said they can install Sirius or XM. I read that Lexus was going to start coming from the factory with XM only? Anyone know if dealers will still be able to install Sirius once this happens?

2. To those that have Sirius with their IS, how's the reception? I read a test on a BMW 330i about a month ago, and they complained that the Sirius radio cut out every song, where other cars were getting good reception with Sirius.

From what I understand, the satellite radio modules aren't available yet. My dealer said January, the dealer where my sister test drove the car said March.

I don't know how the reception will be, but I was disappointed to hear that the installation involves installing an external antenna on the package shelf.

Deos anyone know if/when the factory satellite radio modules come will they be able to download/retrieve traffic info, and integrate it with the NAV console to allow us to divert ourselves from traffic jams etc?

I would subscribe to the SAT service JUST for that! I listen to my ipod or mp3 cd's only

I use to... until i got Sirius. Now i hardly ever listen to my ipod in the car.

btw, I am going to be PISSED if you can't get sirius and only xm.

I'm in the same boat as you. I got Sirius because of the NFL stuff, now I don't need to use my ipod as much. I have no desire to get XM because its sports programming is much worse, and I've heard from several people that they just didn't like its programming. Everyone I know thats tried both services is luke-warm at best towards XM, but everyone seems to like Sirius.

Only problem I've had with Sirius's programming is I end up downloading songs I hear on it for my ipod.

I got mine thrown in for free during the negotiation. Comes with 9 months svc also. Youmight try calling your salesperson and asking them.

In N. Ca, they aren't available till January.

Sirius has not come out yet at a factory or port-installed option. It was supposed to be released in January and then pushed to March and now aparantly been pushed to 5/31/06 according to Sewell Lexus (www.lexus-parts.com). Not sure why they keep pushing it off. It could have something to do with the fact that XM has contracts with Toyota. Not too sure why the delay and the dealer does not know either.

yes please shout if you have Sirius or know when it is available. I'm getting it the day it comes out.

Upon purchasing my car today the dealer told me they can't put Sirius in my car after telling me they could, but would be happy to install XM. I told him no thanks. I wish these sales people would have all the facts before they start offering things that are not available. So now i guess i'm going to pre-order it through lexus-parts.com and get the 10% discount and install it myself once its available. May 31st is what the website says, we shall see........for now i'll have to use my starmate ugh!

grah! they told me they could install it. Even though I wouldn't have it dealer installed I still want Sirius. XM is horrible.
