Any of those methods will work 100% if they are done properly... I think a better question would be:

"Which method of connecting wires is best for a beginner?"

The answer is proably crimping tubes. But honestly, it's best to take it to a professional shop and have them do it if you cannot make a secure connection.

OK so this mod does not allow you to enter the destination while moving? Kinda disappointing.

Oh and everyone here says the vents are the hardest thing. All you need is a pair of needle nose pliers. Wrap them with a thin towel, rag, old t-shirt, whatever and pull the vents out, takes two seconds.

I like the DVD feature and having access to the phone is sweet!

Ahh true...i was for some reason expecting full navigation function after the wire splice. But you're right, at least it can be over ridden by pushing a few buttons.

I just did it by wires. The switch is a good idea but for me it wasnt worth the extra effort. I pulled the loom way back and connected the pink and white wires with an extra piece of wire using wire tube crimps. This way if something goes wrong, I can just rip off the connectors without losing any of the original wire length, reconnect and eveything will be placed back beneath the loom. In the case of the white wire the cut would be behind the nylon tape. I'm wondering if anyone knows where to buy the thin electrical tape used to tape off the ends of the loom? It's not the typical vinyl tape, it's much thinner. I'd like to be able to put everything back exactly how it was should I ever need warranty work.

i think there is a lot of heat in that area so be careful with any type of connection that is heat activated or might loosen up when exposed to heat. mine came loose one and it's painful to go back in....

Default Does anybody know how to do this in Los Angeles?

If you know how to do this wire hack for a 2006 IS 350 with ML, I will pay you to do it. Makes me nervous! Or if you know of a professional near Los Angeles, that would work too.

i'm in the same boat too. last thing i want to do is thrash my interior just so i can cut and splice wires - and i'm not well-trained enough to do that. can someone do this for me? professional highly preferred. drop me a PM so we can discuss this.

i know it may be easy and all, but i don't trust myself modding my own car. i've tried DIY-mods on the last two cars that i've owned, and they never turn out the way i thought they would.
