IS wHRE wheels
First post...
I've been playin on photoshop this morning and have my summer wish list. I can't seem to find info in this forum about what the biggest size wheels I could fit (or are recommended) on my 250RWD.
Any info is appreciated. I'm a born VW guy and just upgraded to Lexus L-finesse...haha
So far my favorite is the third one (HRE 948's, but they only come in 20")

If i ever put rims on this car, it have to be 20's. To each of his own but i don't see the poin to go up just 1 size of the stock rims. The 19's especially the ones with lips will look as big as the stock one without lips.

thanks for the comments
So tim817, that means you believe 20's would fit on this car w/o problems?? 20's are big $$$ especially rubber, but as long as they wouldn't rub, I would do it. ...it's only money.
Would I have to lower the car? I love the ride of lexus susp. I wouldn't want to jeopardize the ride just to look a little lower unless I absolutely had to.
I lowered my last car (jetta GT) and although it looked awesome, I hated the ride.

If you get 20's, the best tire size that is close for the front diameter is 245/30/20 , and the rear is 275/30/20.
the stock tire size : front : 225/40/18 -- the Diametter of the tire is 25.1in
Rear : 255/40/18 --the Diametter of the tire is 26.0in
the 20's tire size are: front: 245/30/20 -- the Diametter of the tire is 25.8 in
Rear: 275/30/20 -- the Diametter of the tire is 26.5 in
( these number are base on http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html )
Those 20's tire size are pretty popular. Tires.com have set of 4 for around $1000K
If i go for 20's the offset of the wheel will be: 20x8.5 with +38 offset front
20x9.5 with +45 offset rear
These are base on my research through the forum. Just my 2 cents...

There is a set of 19" HRE wheels / tires on ebay that supposedly fit the IS.

Thank you so much for your help tim... I'm so stoked that 20's will fit.
HRE's are pricey though... those ones on ebay for 6K??! Didn't think I'd have to spend more than 4K CDN. Maybe I'm a little outa my league.
What about suspension to get a similar ride quality? I don't want a rail car cause I still hafta cruise on the snow/ice in winter.

I can't imagine driving a 30 profile tire on a dialy driver. Run over anything much more than a gummy bear and you will be buying a new wheel. Looks nice but I bet the tramlining is unbearable.

Congrats on your new purchase! I think 20" wheels would be a great choice. We are authorized HRE retailers and have great pricing on them. We could also accomodate you with a few other choices that are not as pricey, yet are of the same build quality namely ZONE Forged, iFORGED, GFG Forged and WORK Wheels.
Take a look at the following pages to get a idea and SEND A EMAIL for further assistance.

not necessarily, since the aspect ratio is just that (a ratio) the sidewall can still be considerable, such as with a 275/30-19.
