Default homelink problems

I have had problems programming buttons #2 and #3 on the homelink. #1 worked OK. I know the door openers are OK because my husband has them programmed on his car. Has anyone else had this problem? I will let the dealer know next service, hopefully they can fix it.

I had to go through the process on my wife's 330 about five times before it "took".
All the dealer will tell you is to try it again. They really have no way of checking your link to your garage or device.
You have to be very methodocal in the process.

When I programed my garage door, I used the #3 button. It worked fine, first try.

I had no problem programming buttons one and two. Both of mine are "rolling code" openers, that required getting up on a ladder and pressing a "learn" button on the opener itself, then within 30 seconds the programmed button on the rearview mirror, before they would operate.

does it matter what number you choose for rolling code?
I have had my car for over a month and have to drive with the opener in my car cant get it to take the code.
How did u program yours by getting on a ladder i have tried that way too and still no workie?
Please help need to get rid of opener in car.

nonono, i am not saying it matters on which number used for rolling code

so for the 2 and 3, you also tried going up to the opener and press the learning button? you first program the remote and then do the opener right?

that's probably it's on rolling code. you will need to have access to that gate opener (after you program the remote) in order to really program it

Mine was a rolling code garage opener too. I ended up having to go to HomeLink's website and had to follow their instructions VERY carefully. If you skip or mess up one step, it's not going to work. Good luck!

Cheers,
Kermee

I was amazed that the homelink actually worked with my garage door openener in the first place. It's probably 20 years old. Although, now it broke, so I'm unfortunately parking outside until I get a chance to replace it. uggh.

i had a problem the first time.. and well.. it took about 3 tries...
if your homelink system starts blinking fast.. yet your button doesn't work...
that means you have rolling code.. just go up there with a ladder.. and you'll find button..

and just try it couple of times.. it's bound to work.. be patient with it..
took me all about 30 minutes to program 3 cars after i figured out how..

I had some problems initially--opening 2 of my 3 garage doors (rolling code) simultaneously when I only pressed for one. This is what I had to do to solve the problem: first, clear all your openers (pressing the train button on the motor for 5+ sec); second, reprogram each of your openers; third, clear you Homelink (press the outer 2 buttons until fast blink); and fourth, program the Homelink as directed.

I did the ladder thing with the opener itself for all 3 buttons. I didn't realize you have to do the remote first and then the opener. I thought it was one or the other i.e. if the remote programming doesn't work, then try the actual door opener. I think I did try programming the remote first with #1 (maybe that's why it was the only one that worked) but probably didn't do that with #2 & #3. I just tried the opener alone with #2/#3. I just don't remember doing that with my husband's RX. OK, I will try that. Thanks
