Hi, can those people who currently have the new IS post your opinions on the stock audio system? Pros? Cons? Can it be turned up loud without distortion, etc. thanks

Good but not like ML good. There's a really good write up for it if you search.

I have the base stereo and I am more than happy. The Mark Levinson sounds very nice, but I you wouldn't feel bad at all at the base model.

Same sentiment here. Very happy with it and I have XM and an iPod Nano hooked up to it. It's not going to win SPL competitions or anything, but it should satisfy most buyers. Like the post above, if you search, there's a good write-up on the stock vs. ML.

Cheers,
Kermee

Have the stock/base system, no real complaints here either.

Ya the stock system is pretty good. I put the volume up to 40 sometimes even 45 and there's no distortion. The bass is pretty good and clean. The only thing is that it doesn't sound as loud/good in the rear compared to the front, but doesn't really bother me since im always the one driving it.

I have the stock audio system, but I'm not as happy as the previous posters. I regret that the Mark Levinson option isn't offered in our region without special-ordering a car.

The system plays cleanly and doesn't have any noticable distortion at sane listening levels.

It does not sound as good as the Bose systems in my previous Audi and Maxima. (And believe me, I'm no Bose fan)

For a system with 13 speakers and 194 watts, it has very little visceral punch.

My other complaint is about the radio reception, where again, it underperfroms the system in my previous cars.

I just picked up my car on the 28th, and am still up in the air about the stock system... To me its lacking oomph... Hard to explain, but it's keeping me from cranking the music up high.

Right now, my Bass is set to +2 I think, with Mid and Tremble at 0.... What is everyone else's settings?

I wanted the ML system too but settled for the stock. It's good enough. I've never heard the ML system in the IS350 but I have it in my GX470. It's nice and the bass is great. I don't have golder ears so aside from the base, I can't tell much difference. Also probably because I rarely crank up my volume very high so the stock sound is excellent for the way I listen to music.

If it was available when I bought the car, I would have willingly paid the money for it. But I am not about to special order one.

That is what I meant when I said that the system lacks "visceral punch". Even when playing loud, you don't "feel" the music.

I have the bass up +1 and the treble up +2.
