Default Recall on IS250

I don't know if I'm just behind in IS news, but there is a current recall on the IS250. Check out http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/. It involves the accelerator petal getting stuck due to lack of carpet clearance. Yikes!

Default Recall is VIN Specific

Yeah it is actually a VIN specific recall - i.e. recall parts are labeled for a specific car when the appointment is made by your dealer. I heard something about recall affected customers getting Ipods or Ipod Nanos for their "time" from Lexus. Can anyone confirm that?

Not sure about the iPod thing, I haven't even opened the recall letter yet I received a couple days ago. My dealer beat Lexus to them and called me earlier in the week. I took the opportunity to schedule an appointment and have them do the "fix" for the accelerator and handle the rattling I'm getting from the driver-side B-Pillar at ear-level, right next to the seatbelt mechanism. My appointment is Tuesday next week. I was going to wait till the 5,000 mile service but thought I would kill two birds with one stone this way.

Cheers,
Kermee

Wow so Lexus still goes to its customers for those recalls...an interesting and nice (I guess) tradition.

Hey Kermee,

I got mine done this weekend at L.O.S. Only took about 45 minutes...
(plus a nice surpisingly nice car wash)

Also, I had the same rattling problem but on the passenger side B-pillar near the seat belt mechanism. It took them a while to figure it out, but it has been alleviated.
Ask for Paul Bindon, he seemed to be the one that was able to figure out the problem and solved it immediately... I know its not a big deal, but that rattling was sure annoying....

did they also fill your gas tank? when they came to my job to do mine he gave me a paper for a free carwash and a gas tank fill up on them..which was very nice being it costs about $40 to fill my tank

Hi jiggyman,

Sweet! Thanks for the info! I'll ask for Paul Bindon.

Yeah, lots of people have been reporting the rattling problem on the B-pillars. Mine just happens to be on the driver-side and is extremely noticible above 40 MPH. When the music is turned up, I can't hear it but when I just want to enjoy the IS in silence... that's the rattling in my vehicle and yes... it's quite annoying.

Thanks again. My car is going in tomorrow morning at 9 AM. You going to the thing at LoS on the 12th?

Cheers,
Kermee
