It seems that a lot of people enjoyed the NAV wire mod that I did, so maybe some of you might want to help me investigate my next wiring mod.
This time I want to disable the speedo My car is a 6 weeks old and I already have 5500 miles!! Its not feeling like a "new" car because that # is getting too big!!!
....I have found the wire (under the hood) as well as behind the cluster. I figured it would be much easier to locate it under the hood.....
I do not have VDIM because my car is a 250...so this mod is different for the VDIM cars....so here is what Ive found reading wiring diagrams, and speedo diagnostic articles supplied by lexus....I plan to put it on a switch....
From what ive read/seen the wire that needs to be cut to disable the speedo/odo comes from the wheel sensors to the ABS/VSC ECU, which is located right next to the vaccum diaphram under the hood.....the connector is #A14, it is the big connector on the drivers side, to remove it slide up the white clip and the connector comes out.....the wire we are looking for is the 5th wire on the top from the right when looking at the connector from the front side (the side that plugs into the car) The wire is purple/pink/green....and according to the diagram that wire only controls/goes only to the speedo....I want to know if any of you can CONFIRM that that is all that wire does?? I fear it might have a return signal to the ECU to prevent what im trying to do here... Uninformed people say "the car wont shift" etc....but I want CONFIRMED Info....so no heresay....any Lexus Techs on here that can help?

It's illegal to tamper with the odometer period. I doubt any Lexus tech here will share this info with you.

Exactly. Why on earth would you tamper with it? Talk about breaking a law or two.

Im not endorsing the breaking of any laws here, I just like to develop mods for my cars....I thought other people might be interested in the same mod....dont get me wrong I just want to see if this can be done...Im not trying to break ANY laws here at all.....

you're technically finding a way to falsify your odometer readings which would infringe (spelling?) on breaking laws... although you're not exactly breaking the law by inquiring about how to do it... touchy subject though... I'd doubt anyone would want to be an accessory to this =P
