Default Real world gas mileage 250 vs. 350? - Survey

Still deciding which to buy. The power of the 350 is very seductive, but the EPA fuel economy numbers for the IS250 Auto/RWD are hard to ignore. So of course I'm wondering just how much better the IS250 fuel economy is in actual practice?

EPA estimates aren't very accurate, so I was hoping that some of you in this forum could share your mileage to compare both models in the real-world.

It would also help to know:

- How many miles on your car.
- Transmission type (if manual)
- Chassis type (if AWD)
- Style of driving (granny, sedate, average, spirited, hot rod)
- Percentage of city vs. hwy miles (i.e. 30/70)
- Terrain (Bay Area hills? or the Iowa plains?)

Thanks!

I have an IS350 and I used to have Acura RSX. I actually think IS350 consumes the same amount of gas as my RSX. It's amazing how you can get 306hps with this gas milage.

Dont worry too much about this. I suggest you go for IS350. I dont really know the figures for IS250, so I cant really tell if they can get 25-26mpg.

1500miles
IS350 (auto,RWD)
spirited
about 50/50
Berkeley hills

the computer says 19.5 -23 AVG MPG

in mixed driving i usually get between 25-28 mpg in my 250 RWD auto. all highway i have gotten as high as 31 mpg, well according to the computer. but from what ive seen the mpg computers in other toyotas have been known to be inaccurate.

Im kinda "old school" so i take the amount of miles i used for that tank and actually divide it by the amount of gallons needed to fill up rather than trust the gauage on the dashboard. I have a 250awd and do about 75/25 city/hwy and my mileage is about 18 to 20 mpg at "best". The few times ive done more hwy miles than city ive gotten between 21 to 24. If fuel usage is a concern id rather go with the 350 and bigger engine since the weight of the awd i believe is whats causing the low mileage here

My real world fuel economy on the IS350 has been about 19 MPG. (Actual consumption, not trip computer) That's in mixed suburban driving, and admittedly does include quite a number of short trips in cold weather. Only have 1100 miles on the car, so I'm hoping it will improve as the engine becomes more broken in.

IS_250: That's encouraging.

So far, the consensus on this and other discussion boards seems to be about 19-20 mpg for the IS350 in mostly city driving. But this is the only post I've seen from an 250 RWD owner so far.

Anybody else?

Default Im very Pleased....

I have a is250 rwd, it has about 5500miles on it, my computer says that my overall average is 24.8, I ve found that everytime I actually calculate miles/gallons everytime I fill up the "tank avg" on the computer is right on (maybe a tenth or two off) ....so on long trips ive seen as much as 29mpg but my average speed was 82 mph, driving from LA to SF.

I bought the 250 because I needed the gas milage.....If I want to go fast I have a 600rwhp '69 Datsun 510, that uses 118 octane C16 that costs about $6.00 a gallon, and runs a quarter mile in under 10secs....( it has a mazda rotary 12a with a 76mm innovative dual bb turbo, and haltech fuel managment)...The lexus is my everday car and as you can probably see I drive A LOT...ive had the car only 6 weeks and it has over 5500 Miles on it!!

I get about 22 mpg with 50/50 city/highway driving on my IS350. My car has about 4000 miles.
