Aerotech did the clear bra, fog light cover and, red out for me last weekend. However, when I got home and looked at the tail light, I don't like the look of it. The color was darker than other area of the tail light. Therefore, I just ripped it off.

anybody wanna scan the template from the aerotect or create one for us DIY with the rvinyl? I dont wanna use an extacto knife as well, rather just use scissors and cut it from a template. but if i get desperate i mite just get both the rvinyl and aerotect.

just get a piece of paper or something and trace the outline of the amber portion. cut the paper out and that can be your template. that's what i did and it came out perfect!

I tried to do this to my GS and the Xacto knife left scratches where I trimmed down. I didn't even apply that much pressure.

ouch...sorry to hear about that

yeah, i'd try and make a template first. i got the precut ones 'cause i didn't want to mess around with an exacto knife near my tails.

how'd the tails turn out besides the scratches?

I got scared and took it off, I only did one side, and went and bought scratch remover. I'm going to wait and think of the best possible way. Sketch paper? My hands have a hard time cutting things straight, especially trying to go really slow on my taillight.

I think doing a pre-cut will be too hard. I listened to R-vinyl's suggestion of not over saturating the taillight with water/deterg solution and I couldn't slide the film easily.

Seems like if you're going to do the smoke film after the redout anyway, it doesn't really matter if you get rvinyl or aerotect, am I right?

yeah, in some cases

but i think if you want the turn signal to blink red, you're going to have to put the red overlay on. otherwise it'll still shine through as amber with just the smoked tail overlay on

haven't tried it, but that would be my guess

I just did my red outs, extraordinarily simple, mine were pre cut

clean and dry the tailights
peel off the vinyl sheet, dip it in mild soapy water
position the vinyl, start squeegeeing towards the edges to get rid of bubbles and excess water, wipe off excess water
make sure it goes around curves without it popping up

The installation was very similar to the invisible shield product they make for electronic devices, i installed one of these on my nano and my bros PSP
