True, but you never know until you try. Well designed headers and high flow cats mated to a true dual exhaust could net a lot of power across the entire powerband without dropping anything down low. Since this is a motor nobody's modded yet, it's up to the brave pioneers to find out.

it's possible to lose low end power while gaining top end.. Which is not
what i imagine we'd want, since our IS350'S don't seem to be the kinda of
car you want to take up to 150mph,, (maybe on a perfect straightaway)

I agree.. I've been out of the high perf car world for over 5 yrs now, but
I don't remeber there being any high flow cat systems? Do you mean
straight pipes, with no cats??

No, not straight pipes (or test pipes as they're commonly called) but actual catalytic converters that flow at a MUCH higher rate than factory cats. Carsound and Magnaflow are two of the bigger brands -- Often manufacturers will buy cats from one of those two and weld them into pipes to replace the stock cat systems. If nobody ends up selling complete cats welded into pipes for the IS, it's pretty easy to have a good muffler shop fab up a set.

I'm not sure if the IS has two sets of cats or just one, but if it is two, then a set of high flowing cats will help free up some power. Even if just one set, it's possible that high flows would help a little. I personally like hi flows for N/A engines -- I think straight pipes sound way too loud and smell like ***.

Here's a link to Magnaflow: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02converters.asp

I thought I saw some dynos one day of the exhaust system power was gained basically throughtout the band. Low end seem to benefit the most

Saturday Steve at lmw put the prototype exaust on my car but did not have time to dyno it. The cai and the exaust are for both the 250 and 350.

Catback systems usually always yeild more power and usually never
hurt low end, I'm talking about removing the cats.

How does it sound? Any clips? Is it a lot louder than the stock system? Deeper or just louder?

I wonder how light is the LMS exhast compared to the OEM exhaust? How many CAT do you have to remove and will the Check Engine light come on when only remove 1 or 2 CAT?
