Default Upgrades coming...

Hi, I'm new to the forums, as I just bought a SGM IS350 full load (Canada). I did a bit of searching, and found out a couple of things:

1. Tein is working on a coilover kit: http://www.tein.com/lexus.html
2. Stoptech has completed a big brake kit, and is taking pre-orders. I emailed them, and here is their response:

(Email #1): We have supplied Team Lexus with the first 4 wheel big brake upgrade for the IS350 and the car is on display at the Detroit auto show in the Lexus booth. The BBK features a 355x32 front brake with the StopTech ST60 six piston and a 345mm rear rotor with the ST40 four piston caliper. The rear kit is compatible with the stock drum parking brake.

The kits will be available end of February. Pricing will be out shortly.

Best regards

Robert E. Lee

StopTech LLC

(Email #2): John,

We are currently taking pre-orders for the IS350 kits through authorized distributors. Here is the pricing

83-523-6700-XX front big brake kit in red black or silver and slotted rotors, list price $3,195
83-523-674G-XX 4 wheel big brake kit in red black or silver and slotted rotors, list price $5,595

The XX will change depending on the type of rotor and color of caliper selected. Blue, Yellow, and Gold are $200/axle more.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
Howard
Brake Consultant

Not sure if this is news or not, but thought everyone would like to know if it is.

Cheers,

Johnnay

man, those are pricey. with 19 or 20" rims, I bet they will look good. then again, wheel/brake set up will cost up to 10K. That's quarter the price of my car!

I think break upgrades are a waste of money if you are just a city driver and not autoxing, racing, etc.

Thats why Infiniti doesnt have the Brembo upgrade anymore on the G35C because the factory brakes performs the same as the brembos in everyday conditions. The only advanatages of the Brembos were on the track against the stockies.

So why waste $3000+ for a brake kit when the IS350 has already upgraded breaks??

What does a set of coilovers cost? I'm guessing cost will be close to what it was for the 300? Are we talking over $1500? Is it a difficult thing to install yourself? Sorry for the noob questions but DAMN that 350 dropped looks hot.
