the best deal I've seen from southbankleasing.com is for the Mercedes C230 ....$279/mo
...but MB doesn't include maintenance anymore, plus I had a C320 already.

another quote from south bank leasing...."You're looking at around a $476.00 monthly payment with $4000.00 down on a 48 month lease (IS350 - premium, 18" rims)"

I say this in every leasing thread. It is not a good idea to put money down on a lease and that includes paying the taxes up front. God forbid your car is totalled or stolen, you lose all that money. The leasing company owns the car not you, so your insurance company will pay the leasing company for the value of the car and any money that is still owed to the leasing company (including the taxes if you didn't pay them up front) is paid by the gap insurance. Yes I know if you put the taxes into the lease you're paying interest on the taxes, but if the money factor is low enough, who cares. And I could take that money and put in into a savings account, CD or money market account and make at least 4%.
Also, it's not fair to compare the lease payment for a lease with a down payment and one without. I could lease any car for $100/month if I put a large enough down payment.

Reading the comments in this thread really make me think some of these members are just not current on what the market is. First off, I find it unbelievable that any Lexus dealer would discount an IS $200, much less $2,000. Secondly, Audi and BMW are in a real pinch to move cars off of their lots. Have you been to either of these brand's stores and seen how many A6 and 3 series cars they have in inventory? You're lucky to find an IS in stock for sale, most of them are sold before they hit the port! It's understandable that Audi and BMW are selling these cars at stupid low prices just to move them, that combined with subvented finance and lease rates from the factory will produce low payments to target price concious buyers (think they're feeling the effects of the new IS inthe market?). Lexus rates and residuals are competitive with the market, and at the end of the lease (in most cases) you'll be able to purchase your car below market value. Ask about the money factor, sale price, and if you have an extra 5k to put up front that you can have returned to you at the end of the lease you can affect your finance rate by over 2% apr with multiple security deposits.

I special ordered a 350 in January. Second purchase from this dealersip.
I told them to print out their lease numbers as if I was going to lease today. Here is what they gave me. 36 month lease. 12,000 miles a year.
Regular lease with no money down. Residual 61%. Money factor 0.00300
Multiple security deposits (9 refundable payments). Residual 61%. Money factor 0.00210.
One pay lease. Residual 61%. Money factor 0.00200.
Using a selling price of 43085 first is payment of 736, second 670 and third 662.
Now these are the guys that forgot to tell me about the acquisition fee and volunteered to drop it - and that was 600.

Its called a multiple security deposit lease. I believe you can make up to 9 payments, fully refundable. See my earlier post as to how it changes the money factor.

Multiple Security Deposit
Multiple Security Deposit (MSD) allows you to make up to nine additional security deposits at lease inception, thereby reducing monthly payments substantially. The additional security deposits reduce your monthly payments and are refunded to you at the end of the lease period.
