Out of curiosity, how'd you manage that? I'd be interested in seeing a scan of the invoice. Given that your "average" invoice price is probably around $35000 reasonably equipped, you're talking getting an additional $3500 off. Why exactly was the dealer willing to absorb that kind of a loss?

I paid invoice by the way, or rather will be when the car shows up (due to a family contact at the dealer).

You're only getting ripped off if you think you're getting ripped off. Some people happily pay MSRP and think they got a good deal. Joy.

Personally, I think the markup on the IS's is pretty insane (basically MSRP is around $4000+ over invoice).

You should easily manage to take a couple grand off the asking price, at least if you're buying a car on the lot. If the local dealer isn't willing to negotiate, find one that will.

I got my Blue Onyx/black interior 250 AWD with navigation and other accessories for $34,299. Not quite sure how much off MSRP that is but I think it is a good chunk of change (approx $2,500-$3,000 ?) I also agree with heffergm, you are only getting ripped off if you think you are- he explained it pretty well so I feel no need to add to it, just wanted to say I agree...

They didn't move on mine at all. They did add in the rear spoiler fully installed and moved up $2500 on my trade so I guess all in all I saved about $3G. But I think that just means I just didn't get screwed on my trade...
