Weird. I was told 2-3 (with the emphasis on 2). We'll see if that plays out or not (I'm thinking NOT, but like I said, time will tell. If the 2 month theory hold, it'll show up end of March).

Special Order price
Hi Guys,
I want to order IS350 with HID and Nav only. Are you guys paying MSRP? Do you need to make payment at the time you order or when you get the car?
Thanks

You pay a deposit at the time you put the special order in. This is usually $500-$2000, but I've been quoted as high as $5000. Obviously the purpose of the deposit is if you reject the car the dealership can keep your money and use that to offset the loss that they will take if they can't sell your car as equipped. Apparently these cars are only ordered in a few pre-set configurations (colors, options, etc.) that Lexus has determined will "sell well". I paid $2000 for mine and the amount wasn't an issue as I am not planning on rejecting delivery as long as the car is as I ordered. Once you deem the car acceptable to you, then you pay the balance. The wait time is the biggest issue. I ordered in early June, and won't get the car for at least three months, so I'm looking at mid to late-September, possibly October. The plant shutdown for a week due to the earthquake certainly didn't help things either, but obviously there are more important things in life than my car getting made when they are hit with a major earthquake or typhoons. Be wary of the dealer that quotes you a six month wait time or an unreasonable deposit. In my experience those dealers are reluctant to special order and will take your order and your deposit then sit on your special order. Yes I mean they will not even submit the order until they are good and ready if at all. I had a car lined up, paid a deposit, then they didn't deliver and I had to chase them down for a month just to get my deposit back. I think the cars are made on a 30-45 day cycle, so even the smallest delay in getting your special order in the system can make a big difference in the wait time.
