Chicago PD - I'm contemplating enrolling in Accounting classes to give me something to do for side work. I don't like security gigs.

Honestly, I always choose ER. You never know what your going to get! ie.

Crystal Meth overdose
Gunshot wounds
1 year old seizing and need to be placed on a mechanical ventilator to breath
Electrician with a transforming blowing up in his face on a rainy day
People dieing left and right

Today I had to put a 96 year old on a ventilator and I blew both her lungs open, we had to place bilateral chest tubes in her because all the air from her lungs went under her skin (subcutaneous emphysema) and it felt like rice crispys popping when you touched it. I warned the family that she couldn't handle the ventilator, but they didn't listen

Actually the only time I would rather work in an ER is when we get the inevitable "bad odor coming from neighbor's house" call during extremely hot spells. You can't recreate some of those scenes or even convey them through words.

Wow, that sounds pretty interesting. Yeah I'm tired of working in routines..same thing over and over. It makes me bored, but being a nurse would definitely be different and exciting. Thanks!
