Default IS350 sport - first 1/8th mile experience

My buddy convinced me to go to Qualcomm Stadium tonight to try out the 350. It was my first time EVER racing at a track so I'm sure the times could be better. It was about 55degrees in the late evening. Anywayz, don't laugh. I'll post the slips when I have a chance to scan them. Oh ya I raced my buddy the first 3 times so he could kinda walk me through the whole thing, he's got an 02? WRX Wagon with the 2.5L from the STi and huge turbos (i think), etc. fully built.

Run 1. Totally messed up, didn't know what I was doing, etc.

How the heck are you guys with the stock IS350s getting the 81mph 1/8th mile? Everything about the car is stock - same tires, etc. I used the left lane the entire time. I kinda felt like it slipped at the start. Any help is appreciated. I left the numbers on the windows for my wife, she has to work tomorrow My buddy did say that he felt like the IS has a good chance of catching his car in the 1/4mile...didn't look that way to me though.

How were you shifting out of curiosity? All automatic or were you using your paddle shifters? If your paddle shifting, what RPM did you switch at?

Your 60's are kllling your times. 2.5, 2.6, 2.5, and a 3.9 hehe... I'm sure you could drop those down a lot with a few more runs. Were you driving through the water? burnout? lowering tire pressure? Not bad for your first time though. Is it still crowded as hell down there? I used to go every other weekend with my CL but I'd only get so many runs in.

no.. wasn't driving through water (drove around it as recommended), burnouts...never done one, so wouldn't know how to, lowering tire pressure... nope. Just drove down there ...well back and forth cuz I didn't have my reg. the 1st time - and got to it. Ya I think I did better in the end, but I'm still surprised by the times, given the other posted IS350 times in the 1/4mile.

It was crowded earlier, I heard, but at about 10pm I guess people just wanted to get home, cuz it wasn't that crowded.

No paddle shifting; basically i just floored it when the light turned green (or right at the 3rd yellow, that gave a better reaction time). The car automatically shifted basically at redline.
