I need to consider if it's worth getting the Lux / Sports pack first..

well...the XENONDEPOT kit is $350....and how much is the Lux and or Sports Pkg again....$3K+?!?!??! easy choice.

I'd opt for the Premium Pkg + aftermarket HID's and forget the Lux or Sports Pkg unless you have money to burn.

One thing to consider is that the aftermarket Xenon's are not considered legal in "on-road" vehicles. It's likely that most will never have a problem with them (inspection, getting pulled over, etc) but they do not have safety features such as the self-leveling devices that the OEM HIDs do and you run the risk of getting a ticket with 'em at some point.

The plus side of adding them to a car such as the 2IS that comes with optional HIDs is that you're not as likely to stand out.

If you ever get pulled over for your HID's, just tell the cop it came like that from the factory. I mean after all they are still HID's and whose to tell the difference. Not like he can even see anything in the engine bay with all of the covers on.

It's easy to get away with after martket HID on a luxury car like Lexus.

I was going to take the HID kit off my old car and transfer them on to the IS. Cops won't give you a hard time with HID's on a Lexus, unless they're very blue (like an 8000 K kit)
