so for an extra $1700 you get:
same "aluminum" plastic trim as base car
memory system (this IS nice to have)
sport tuned suspension (I think the base suspension looks perfect and rides good)
xenon ($379 xenondepot..yes I know no Bi or AFS no added value to me)
outside electrochromatic mirrors with tilt down (no value to me)
rainsensor (no value to me...RAIN-X for me)
aluminum doorsill scuffplates (looks good)
power tilt-telescopic steering column versus manual
aluminum pedals (nice but no added value to me)

of course lux pkg isn't exactly a bargain either..for $2215 on extra (in addition to the Prem Pkg options) you would get:
Power tilt-and-telescopic steering column vs manual (no added value to me)
Memory System (nice)
Illuminated doorsill scuff plates (nice...but no added value to me)
Power rear-window sunshade (nice but no added value to me)
Rain-sensor (no value to me....RAIN-X user here)
Electrochromic outside mirrors with auto tilt down (no value to me)
xenon ($379 xenondepot..yes I know no Bi or AFS no added value to me)

I just wish you could order the xenon a la carte or they came standard!
Well, that really depends.

I wanted the sport suspension.
I wanted memory seats.
I wanted zenons.
I DIDN'T want wood trim.
I wanted auto dimmer rear view mirrors (drive lots at night).
I wanted AFS (same reason).

So true, but I've been reading about how they aren't quite as simple to hook up as one would have hoped. I had the factory hook mine up and they work so well. AND the rear sunshade got thrown in too!!

The FACTORY did it for you? As in, the factory in Japan??? That seems weird to me...

Yes I mean the Factory did it. In Japan. By ordering the Lux package the factory did it for me. And the Factory also put in the rear sunshade. And the wood, etc. It was reallly a great way to go. For me at least. Opening the door at night and letting my friends see the "Lexus" light up is pretty cool IMO.

Cool

Personally, I think the Sports Package is what makes the car unique and sporty. If you want the luxury package then you want a more luxurious looking interior. I wish we could have mixed and matched between the packages. I really wanted the illuminated scuff plates. Dealer said I couldn't mix and match between packages even as I special ordered.

By the way, wanted to share my good news. Was called yesterday and told that my car will arrive at the port in Jacksonville Feb 18th and I should get it a week after that. The dealer is kind of excited as it will be the first Sports Package car they will be getting in Tampa. So anyone waiting on cars in the Southeast Region cars will be arriving on Feb. 18th.

buy the illuminated door sills seperately and install, some thread is around here costed 218 + 130 for the illuminated sills, im sure you can resell the sport door sills easily if you got the sport package

Buy sills:

installation thread, not plug and play to warn you about the install:

I like everything better about the sport package except that it doesn't come with illuminated sills. That is a feature I think they should have included with both packages. The window shade and wood trim make sense to me as "luxury" options, but the sills I think would look good with the metallic trim and aluminum pedals of the sport package. IMO they only did it to give the lux package some advantage over the sport package aside from the shade (is it really that useful?) and the wood (which you can also get on the much cheaper premium package).

Congrats to is4me2. You are in the final waiting period!!!!!!!! I also agree with the mix 'n match re: the options. When my wife and I first saw an IS we liked the sport trim very much. But also wanted the lighted door sills. So, we went the "wood" route. But the IS does indeed look sporty with the silver interior and the drilled foot pedals. Your car will definitely be worth the wait!

Strange that AFS ended up as the acronym for Adaptive Front Lighting System... Where did the L go...?
