Default Protective film for Nav Screen

Has anybody tried a protective film for the Nav Screen? I know stuff is made to protect screens like PDAs, etc. Will it work on the Nav screen and still allow 'touch' control?

The unprotect navi screen gets covered with fingerprints, but cleans us perfectly with a damp cloth. I've seen no evidence of scratches or other damage, at least not from normal use.

I dont see the need of this, moving objects that can scratch an LCD screen will not be used near a car navigation, its environment is far from the punishment laptops, pdas, ipod nanos, or sony PSPs encounter. Under normal use you probably wouldnt even touch it

Default So......

Don't protect your Ipod screen...your PDA screen. your front bumper (with a lear bra)? I wonder how much a new screen costs vs a piece of disposable vinyl?

I've been driving a car with navi for almost 6 years now and have never scratched it. A microfiber cloth takes care of the fingerprints easily. Anything you stick over the navi screen is most likely going to have bubbles (unless you're a professional window tint installer) and will make the screen harder to read.

Hehe, I know what the purpose of "protective film" would be, I was just asking what would be the purpose of applying protective film to a screen that isn't subjected to damage, scratches, and the like?

Putting a protective film over the navi is not totally unnecessary but i would compare it to people who drape plastic over their couches in their home, the furniture they use every day, to protect it from cuts, stains, etc.

If you put protective film over your nav, why wouldn't you apply the same protective film over the dash (where the speedo and odo are)? The only thing I can think of that might harm the nav screen is someone with long fingernails....

Thats actually a good idea, sure it may not be likely to scratch easily,
but WHAT IF , some chick is in your car and she's drunk (which is what
we want), lol, and she decides to start poking the screen, I'm sure
It's not scratch proof, and I'm even more sure, it'd be a small fortune to replace..
For $10, count me in
