A buddy of mine got a 06'GS300
A buddy of mine got the GS300, turns out the payments are prettty much the same as a loaded IS350, so it got me thinking... should I of went with a GS300???
After a little consideration I came to the conclusion that I'm happy with the choice I made (IS350).
Basically I rather see my self in a upper end IS than a lower end GS...but If a could afford a upper end GS (the 430) I would def go with one of those... how bout you guys? would you go with a bigger car with less power (GS300) .... or a smaller car with more power (IS350)?

First of all, your buddies' payments relative to yours don't mean much, but that aside....
It's got nothing to do (for me) with the difference between a bigger/smaller car. It has to do with a sports sedan. I could care less about anything else in the Lexus lineup than the IS, and I definitely didn't decide on the IS because it was a Lexus (in the sense that I wasn't interested in the badge, but in what the car offers and what the badge means in terms of reliability... I'm not looking for a status symbol).

Hmm, that's interesting. I pondered the GS but the IS has it beat in more ways than one. However, everything is relative. Some people cannot live with the size of the IS compared to the GS. And the GS is a good buy considering some of the alternatives. I'd say as long as your friend is happy, more power to him.

I'm in agreement with the general sentiment on this thread: I am getting an IS350 because it is the car I want, not because it's the best Lexus I can afford. I want a car that's small and maneuverable, sporty and powerful, stylish, comfortable, luxuriously appointed, with an excellent factory audio system, and that I can rely on to get me where I'm going rather than sitting in the shop. A loaded IS350 fits the bill more perfectly than any other car out there.
In absolute terms, I could afford a GS--even a loaded one--if I really wanted it. And if I had a large family to cart around it would probably be on my shopping list. But I really want the IS350, and if it's cheaper to boot, that's just gravy.

My dad told me to buy a 2006 GS 300 AWD or GS 430, but here in New Jersey AWD comes in handy so that's why I'm waiting for the 2007 GS 350 AWD ( the GS 300 AWD is under-powered IMHO ). I recently sat in the 2006 IS 350 ( because my girlfriend is getting one when I get my 3GS ) and the 2006 GS 300 AWD. Although the 2IS has a nice interior, the 3GS's interior just feels a lot better and more upscale IMHO.
