I think the car is more responsive then when i had 19x8 and 19x10's on braking and acceleration, of course there was no scientific method of testing other then the butt dyno....... just seems like its not bogging down.

The diameter of the tire is more significant on performance than the size of the wheels due to gearing. Below is a plot of force applied to the ground with my IS350 comparing the OEM rear tires (255/40-18) with lower profile rear tires (255/35-18). The green area shows the benefit of the lower profile, and the red shows the benefit of the OEM tires. I made this plot by combining my torque curve (from a dyno test) with lobuxracer's gearing chart.

BTW, the significance of the graph above is that a 1" reduction in rear tire diameter from 26.1" to 25.1" will result in a 3.8% increase on the "butt dyno". Basically it is BY FAR the biggest bang for the buck mod out there for the butt dyno.

What sized tires are you putting on the 18's? Those offset seems super low for the IS? Did you have fender work done? I saw many applications of front 8.5" +38 and rear 9.5" +38 but have yet to see an IS with only +25 offset installed on a 9" and 10" rim. Definately please post your pics after your install!

here is the pic of my trying on 18x13 -10 offset rims, good deal so just try it on, didnt end up buying it, for the work SL, i'm planing to run 215/45/18 front
235/40/18 rear

just going to do a little fender roll maybe to make the work SL +25 fit
i'm more fan of wide wheels then big wheels

sorry too technical for me, but i have always felt that the 255/40 on a 8.5 wide rim was wierd, looks bloated...
what was the reason for lexus doing that? i would have thought a 255/35 would be more appropriate for athetics, mechanically i would have a clue the benifits either or. i just drive the car.
