First 24Hrs with my new IS250 MT
Well finally got back from the dealer and got my Tungsten pearl with black interior, 6 MT, 18's" and rear spoiler.
Coming from a 2000 BMW 323i sport package.
Little profile: 36 years old, art director, married, 1 child.
This car rock!
I drive 100 each day (90% highway and 10% city) and I have a couple of off ramps that i liked to push my BMW a little.... well this morning I did the same with the IS and it feel more secure planted to the road (tires maybe) the only main difference is the steering feel (more dampening but I like it... also, the car feels on rails not that much body roll and still a neck snapping steering response (note: I don't have the sport package)
Sounds system is amazing (BMW is crap!) and this is the basic, standard system, I like the fact that you can load tons of MP3 on your CD and make them play on your head unit.... it even tell you the name of the song... (poor man's ipod.... 6 CD X 680MB of music each!) I'm waiting for my cable to connect the ipod to the aux input.
Seats are soft but firm, the leather is way beyond BMW and all the switches are sooooo smoooth to operate! The feel like quality and luxurious. Just slide the sunroof screen and you will know what i mean.
The engine is peppy and strong, torque is a blessing. The 6 speed manual transmission is a joy to shift and the **** is designed perfectly for this task.
The only 2 things that I would change are:
HID standard: I know there are several kits and i plan to upgrade asap.
Real aluminum center console: I'm pretty sure we will have some kits soon.
Overall, I've never been this happy in my life (car related happiness, just in case the wife reads this)
Thanks for reading this far!
regards,
Joel Pirela

congrats man!
yep I HAD to do the HID upgrade within 2 weeks of getting my car.
If you liked the BMW, I think you'll love the Lexus. Performance + Reliability!

thanks guys!
bagwell, which HID kit did you end getting?
Do you think that the new thin profile phillips ballasts will fit inside the headlamp assembly? or do they need an outside power source?
Thanks!

if they do come out with a standard HID. i used to have a mkiv supra after 96 toyota decided to drop the price down10k so the mkiv pre 96 owners filed a class act law suit and won so every 93-96 original supra owner got a 10k check from toyota motor. i wander if we could do that and get the dealers to install hids in our cars kuz this is just Fed up
