Default My sales buddy just got his Sport Package...

with Mark Levinson and Pre Collision System. After much abuse he tossed me the key fob today and I went out and set up a few things for him. He'll be surprised when he goes home...He didn't even have any radio stations set. He lives with a bluetooth earpiece on and he hadn't even set up his bluetooth phone yet.

Forget the wood veneer issue, I'll bet you would like the Blue Lexus scuff plates, wouldn't ya? I tried to advise my friend but he wanted the 1/2 inch lowered, heavier springs. I would get the Lux package and put coilovers on it someday.....

They're all good....

The wood in the 70's era Buicks looked nothing like the wood trim in the Lexus. The "wood" on those cars looked like vinyl contact paper, i.e., this:

No doubt what Buick used actually was vinyl contact paper.

The highly polished mirror finish wood on the Lexus is an attempt to replicate the interior on the classic British luxury cars like the Rolls Royce. I think it makes the interior look a bit more warm and inviting -- you obviously feel otherwise, which is fine.

Hey, are your parents looking to adopt another kid? (a kid that's perhaps their own age) My birthday is coming up in a couple of months and I already have enough sweaters.

Is it that hard to get these cars? I have a 350 in Breakwater Blue with nav +ML with the cashmere interior. They had the car on the lot.

That's pretty sweet that your parents are giving you a new car. My parents gave me my first car when I was 17. They bought the car brand new a year BEFORE I was born.

Anyway, if they really have to order the car, I would say get it now, so it will be around for your birthday. The car just came out as a 2006 model, so I highly doubt there will be any changes to the 2007's (except for maybe different colors)

Go ahead and get the 2006 IS 350 now because there won't be many changes for MY 2007. It's cool that your parents are getting you a 2006 IS 350. Better keep them happy. My parents got me a new 1999 Honda Accord EX V6 when I got my license, a new 2001 Lexus IS 300 for my high school graduation, a new 2005 Acura TL as a "beater" for college, and this fall I'll be getting a new 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD as a college graduation present from them. Have to love the parents! If you keep them happy they'll keep you happy.

Gotta luv parents like that...perhaps they would like to adopt a balding middle aged man?

The Lux package would be my choice and I think the color of the wood is the main problem here. It is a little to reddish for the interior colors. I'm hoping Lexus with do a special edittion with the black birds eye maple in the not too distant future. I think that paticular finish would look especially good with the Sterling interior. The Cashmere would be real nice with some of the California Walnut from the ES parts bin. I think real brush aluminium, anodized aluminum, piano black, and a whole lot of other finishes would be nice to but that isn't how Lexus/Toyota does things. Pretty limited in the interior options IMO.

they gave my their 93 GS 300 after i got my license...and told me they would get me a new car after a few year..perhaps around high school graduation..but that didnt happen...then it kept getting delayed for various reasons...including a speeding ticket..lol..but now that i look back..all the delays worked out for the best..bc i would have gotten an IS 300...now im getting the IS 350....being patient paysoff...

I agree with Lem144 early on in this thread:

You suck!

NOBODY's Mommy and Daddy should buy them a $40,000+ car. Young man, I'm happy for you and hope you appreciate it, but realistically what have you done or done for your parents to deserve a "free" $40M+ car? How about that POS 5-year old Honda where you can cut-your-teeth on stupid stuff like taking responsibility for it, taking good care of it and other silly stuff like that?

Bet Mommy and Daddy are going to pay your car insurance too aren't they?
