just my opinion...but 20's seem kind of too big for the new IS.....also if what the shop owner says may happen happens that would suck....

rubbing is much more likely with the 20s and youll have to run 30 series sidewalls on those tires, ride will be affected too

will the rubbing be really bad, and is it true what the shop guy said that i could ruin the rims because the tires will be so thin?

20's will have a tendency to rub on the sidewall, be noisier, and comfort quality is compromised.

I think you'll have good performance with the 19's that will be comprable to the 20's. And you save a little $$ also...

i would NOT get 20"s , your asking for trouble, when making a sharp
u-turn, the stock 18"'s feel like they rub a bit..

depending where the rubbing is, the problems with rubbing can range from just mere annoyances to actual tire damage, if you rub on the fender it wll be annoying, if there is rubbing inside on the suspension you can actually damage/destroy the tire and maybe damage the suspension. If you pick the correct offsets tire sizes with 20s you can minimize rubbing or prevent it. I think some people have 20s and dont rub, they arent dropped i dont think

If you want less hassle overall get 19s. 20s will force you to get thinner tires and they wont have as much protection against potholes etc, tires will be more expensive, ride comfort wont be as good, and of course the rubbing

Whenever I get my IS im just going with 19s and sports package

well thats good because i dont want to drop it thats the reason why i wanted to get 20's, i got the trim from this website, i was thinking of 20x8.5 with a +40 offset and 20x10 with a +42 offset in the rear, would that be oka for the rubbing factor

What is "3 wheel rim"? Did you mean "3-piece rim"?

Oh, I voted 19". IMO, 20" is too big.

looks like a great offset/tiresize/wheelsize setup, has minor rubbing issues
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=195892

I notice that i have a lil rub inside the front wheelwell when i make a hard turn. I was aware of that problem thou. I wanted +38 offset but they only have +40 on that rims. Plus i rather have a lil rub on the inside than having rub on the outside of the fender and wheels sticking out. These rims i plan to have it for a year or two just to test with the car being drop soon. Later i'll get a nice perfect one for this car.
