[If you noticed, I too tend to change cars every three years, or so.] For me, the peace of mind (and a smooth and shiny front end)is more than worth the investment of a clear bra.
This is probably the only country in the world where people pay more money
on protecting something than the item they're protecting is actually worth..

If I cant find a bra, the blue tape sounds like a good idea if it doesn't leave an sticky residue on the car.

Well considering the clear bra can be put on the front end, hood, fenders, headlights, mirrors etc. the cost of all those parts (and done right, not Joe schmo shooting paint over) is MUCH greater than the cost of a clear bra.

I think it's reasonable to want to keep a $50K+ car looking nice. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but the cost of repairing/repainting a front end is more than the cost of having a clear bra installed.

I would never use a cloth bra even for short distances. It is inevitable that dirt, small rocks , etc will get between that cover and your paint. Then it's sandpaper city on your hood!

I guess the blue painter's tape would work in a pinch. It would look extremely ghetto though.

You roll your cars every 3 years? I guess a clear bra wouldn't help - most of the damage from rolling a car would be on the roof and sides.... but you COULD part out the undamaged hood in Ebay!

Clear bra may be a positive selling point in 3 years for a potential buyer... not to mention the lack of tiny dings.

i agree. why protect the car for if it is on a lease. chips and dings will occur, and you will not receive extra credit for having a clean front end. i know you will be penalized for major dents and scratches. plus, the dealership will not reimburse you for leaving the clearbra on upon returning your vehicle.

after about 4 years of the clear bra being on, what if you decide to take it
off , due to "damage of clear bra, etc.." Won't you see the difference between
the protected paint and the weathered paint?

Personally I've never seen a difference - paint cleans up like new.. maybe after 10 or so years there would be a noticeable difference.

Reading through this thread, as well as others, about the positives and negatives for installing a clear bra leads me to the conclusion that having a clear bra installed is a matter of personal preference. I like my cars to look nice. I don't lease, but even if I did I would install a clear bra because it irks me to see the effects of the road on my hood and front end. Stated more plainly, having a clear bra keeps me happy and in a good mood regarding the appearence of my car. It's as simple as that for me.

They also have yellow painters tape...a lot more classy than the blue!

Not currently because they're all so new! I did have one on the M3 that got boosted though...

drive the car in reverse, this will keep the bugs from hitting your front bumper.
