Default squeaky breaks IS250 RWD

Hey guys,

Anyone experiencing their breaks squeaky after slowly breaking the car? I have around 5900 miles on my IS250 RWD and I've been experiencing my squakiness in my breaks after driving for awhile from my daily commutes from work to home.

I complained to my dealership after getting my 5k oil service, they said its related to the break linings when its cold, the breaks tend to squeak. Well the problem for me is that it squeaks after driving for a bit. What should I do?

Thanks,
Patrick

i'm having the same exact problem. :-/ took it in once and they coudlnt duplicate the problem... i think it's just the brake dust gathering cuz one of the techs said they cleaned my brakes before they tested my car (i know wtf?)

I took mine to the dealer on Tuesday and they replaced the pads and resurfaced the rotors. It began at about 3500 miles and at 7450, it was still doing it. Since the change, the squeak has stopped.

You could always pull them and put a small bit of grease on the back side. Use to do that to my Porsche all the time, seemed to help for quite sometime. Other than that they are probably using very hard pads and that is why they are squeaking. Not much you can do about it.

You might also try bedding them in. Go to an open stretch of road or highway when/where there is very little or no traffic. Take the car up to 60 (you can start at a faster speed but I'm not advocating any speeding ) and brake hard until you're down to about 10-20 mph. Immediately accelerate back up to 60 and repeat perhaps 8-10 times (less if you're doing it from a higher initial speed.) Try not to come to a complete stop during all of this and try to brake as hard as you can without invoking ABS.

If you're doing this during the day, repeat as many times until you notice the brakes starting to smoke in between the braking and accelerating. You should also stop if you feel your any brake fade occuring.

After your last run, drive around for another 10-15 minutes without using the brake to let them cool off evenly and keep the newly formed brake pad deposits in the rotor.

Disregard any of the above it if it would put you in the slightest bit of danger.

Your post reminds me of a Honda Accord I saw on the freeway the other day. That's exactly the way he drove! On the right lane, he sped up, braked, and slowed down to ~20MPH, then sped off again.. and repeated the same. The Accord was a late model one so I didn't suspect something was wrong with the vehicle. I passed him (and bottlenecked to see whether the guy was nuts), dropped off my sister, and on my way back on the other direction, I saw him got pulled over by a policeman.

my is350 has been squeeking on slow stops ever since it hit 9k+ miles. now it is almost at 11k and still squeeks. dealer said they fixed it at the 10k service but it came right back the night i picked up the car. i have a feeling a service bulletin will come out on this.

I had to have my brakes replaced at the 5k service because i complained of a slight shudder when braking. The Keyes dealership gladly did it. A lot smoother braking ever since.

seems like a lot of people are experiencing this slow braking squeak. i've been hearing it ever since 200 miles on the odo. took it into the dealer but was told that even if they were to replace it, they'd have to charge me since it's a "wear n tear" item. i just live with it now and will have em inspect it at the 5000 service.

Hi Patrick,

I have the exact same issue as you have when I'm below 15 MPH and slowly braking. I brought this up at my 10K and the service department said they couldn't reproduce it, which I believe them. It's intermittent for me and I only notice it if my windows are down and stereo is off. If I have my windows up and even with the stereo off, I can't hear the squeaking. So the squeaking isn't really annoying to me at all in most cases and doesn't hurt the performance of your brakes. I thought it might of been brake dust so I brought the car up to about 80 MPH on a clear freeway and slammed on the brakes. Didn't help. There's about 6-7mm left on my brake pads as of 13K miles on my car so far.

Cheers,
Kermee

That's ridiculous. My dealership said if they would recreate the problem, they would of covered it under warranty. You're not even at your 5K service and they're claiming NORMAL "wear n tear". Be careful and vigilant what your service department feeds you. If your service department thinks a Lexus vehicle's normal "wear n tear" includes squeaky brakes on a virtually brand-new car, then you need to talk to them when you do your 5K or find another service department to handle your car.

Cheers,
Kermee
