Default Need help from you IS 350 owners that have 19" wheel and tire setups

I would post this in the wheel and tire section but it seems there are no IS owners in that forum or no one wants to help me.

Anyways, I have got a great deal in the works on some 19" volk wheels. The only problem is that I dont think the offsets will work. Here is what the guy is telling me.

Front wheel 19 x 8.5 - 46 offset
Back wheel 19 x 9.5 - 40 offset

Also I have some 245/35/19 inch michellin tires i want to use for the front, will they fit without rubbing too hard?

Thanks in advance guys

those offsets look too high, 245 wont fit in the front, people are rubbing with 235. That wide of a front tire + high offset is definately going to rub inside the wheel well or suspension

Thanks. I just talked to a guy at a wheels shop, he said he called volk wheels and volk told him that they are running 36 offsets all around and there is no rub at all.

I assumed you meant spacers.

Why would you need spacers?

using a spacer you can make the wheels stick out more, basically making the offset different, spacers only work for making a high offset lower, there was a maximum size of space you can use so not sure how far you can go or even if you can get this setup to work with spacers. The backwheel looks good to use spacers but the offset is pretty high on that front wheel i dunno if it will work with that

The front offset look good. Going lower won't make any difference in rubbing inside the wheelwell. I would go for 235/35/19. It won't rub and it's closer to stock diametter.
The rear is okie, there's not need to use spacer on the rear at all. my 2 cent...

Use this offset calculator to determine how much more/less clearance you will have inside the wheel and how much further it will stick out on the outside of the wheel.

http://1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Stock Front 8" wide, 45mm offset
Stock Rear 8.5" wide, 50mm offset

I would be concerned about the fronts since the inner clearance will be 7mm less with a +46mm offset. It will probably interfere with the brake caliper or the suspension/a-arms. When I got my wheels they said this car specifically had to have the "high type" offset as Volk calls it in order to clear the big brakes.

My fronts are 19x8.5 +34mm and they BARELY rub the back of the front fenderwell with the outside of the tire when turning at about 45 degrees in reverse (when the weight is shifted toward the front of the car). Actually after the tires have worn down a bit (1,000 miles), I don't even notice it at all unless I really accelerate in reverse to shift the weight substantially. But I love how much farther they stick out flush with the fender.

You should probably check to see what offsets Volk offers in "high type" for the specific wheel you are looking at. I can probably find you an offset chart if you can tell me what specific model of Volk wheel you are looking at.

This rubbing got nothing to do with the offset. It's more to do with your tire width and diametter. I wish i had +45 offset front and rear on mine so the wheel will tuck in nicely when drop. I hate the idea of having to roll/trim the fender.

It has everything to do with the offset. With the 8.5" wheel and the +34mm offset, the outside of the wheel sticks out 17mm farther toward the outside of the fender. While this makes the wheel flush with the fender, it does cause the rear outside of the tire to rub a little plastic piece sticking out on the rear of the front fenderwell when turning in reverse. If the outside of the wheel did not stick out as far, it would clear. It barely hits now, so a few millimeters would do it. A higher offset would push the outside of the wheel back in toward the hub and allow the tire to clear when it turns. Of course it would also push the inside of the wheel in further toward the hub as well which could cause clearance issues.

The width of the tire 235 vs. 225 shouldn't cause the rub and neither should the new diameter of the wheel since it is almost exactly the same as stock.

its a combination of all of the above, offset is probably the most important factor. The moment you choose to get wider wheels and wider tires the offset has to change from stock offset
