Cool

Hey Tqlla3k,

Thought maybe you were posting because you got your car fixed. Is it done? What's the status.

of course it cars dont appreciate
Yeah, a 72K car can lose 12-14K in 5 months. But not a 35K car. Where are you getting a 10K loss from on a new IS? Check out the KBB on the 05 ES. Its 32,500 new. The Private party sale on an 05ES is 29,500.

Thats 3K for over a year. Why would a 2006 36K IS be worth less than the 05 32.5K ES? The answer is simple. Its not.

The car is in the shop. Hopefully it will be done on Thurs or Friday. Its at the Pohanka Lexus/Acura Body shop. Its a pretty big shop, and they guarantee a match, so hopefully the fender replacement wont be too bad.

They are quick. I took my car in at 7:30 this morning, by 11:30, they had removed the bumper, headlight, sideskirt, mirror, door trim, handle and window trim

Hey... how does your car look now that it has been fixed?!?!?!

My car was vandalized in a parking garage in Hoboken, NJ on Saturday... some guy/girl decided to knock 2 dents into my 4 month old with what appears to be a blunt object like a bat. One is smack in the center of the pillar between the read window and the rear passenger side door.... one heck of a spot... and the minor minor one is on the top of the trunk near the edge... scratches galore too! I will be posting some pics as soon as I get the car home...

I took my car to Pohanka Lexus/Acura collision

My car looks pretty decent. THey did a great job with the blend. I dont see it. However, the Left front end has a slightly worse mismatch with the bumper, than the non painted side. The OE right side also has a mismatch(original paint)

I had them blend the front bumper... still not that great. oh well, I guess I just wansnt meant to have an accident free car =(

I also had to remove my clear bra... for 3 months. I think I am just going to live without it.

As nice and unique as GFM is, I couldn't bring myself to get it just for that reason. You almost have to strip the entire vehicle and respray to get it back to the original uniformity. Even with all the right paint mixing, etc. Spray gun, painter skill, temperature, humidity all factor in to how well the paint will match.

What are my chances of getting the door replaced?

Here is a picture of where I was parked. Notice how packed the lot is. How the hell do you hit my car in this lot?

Sorry to hear that
One more bad news for you:

Frost Mica is very hard to be repainted, and does not matter what your dealer recommend which shop to go, they are all about the same. Dealers usually have some prefer bodyshops, but that does not mean these shops are good. It is all about business! Try to look for private luxury vehicle repair shop and hopefully your insurance will approve it.

I hope you double-quadruple exam the repair quality when the job is done.

Yeah overall, I think the shop did a pretty good Job. Its not perfect, but its the best paint match that I have ever had. The painter did an excellent job with the blend. I think I would go back, if I got into another accident. Plus the shop will redo the work, if there are problems.

In my 3000, I never had a shop even come close to matching the paint. Its a real shame in my 3000, since it was repainted in Dec, 00. After someone hit me (While I was stopped in a parking lot) I took it back to the same shop that did the previous paint job.... and still they couldnt match their own paint job.
