Watch the video on the side of the MSN link, when i saw the thing coming to hit the side of the IS and BMW I was like

[darthvader]NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO[/darthvader]

Also showing them both running it into a stationary object, they slow motion the IS crash to rub it in too. Even show the IS side impact test in slow motion

"Both the BMW and Lexus earn the silver award, but this award applies only to 3 series models manufactured after February, 2006, when BMW redesigned the head restraints to improve performance in the rear test."

I guess those 3 series made before Febrauray 2006 aren't as safe.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't just the Saab 9-3 & Subaru Legacy receive the highest safety rating? It appears that our beloved IS faired well, but only received a 'silver' where as the two aforementioned vehicles were given a Gold rating.

Does the 1st generation IS300 have side curtin airbags??

The iihs guy said that the IS is the "the poster child for how we want manufacturers to make their vehicles. It looks good, the [crash] dummies say its good; its a good vehicle"

Good job Lexus!

Makes the decission much better for me.

Yes, but only for front seat occupants. As usual, Lexus cut corners on safety... too cheap to install rear curtains on the previous IS.

If you think that's bad, remember that Lexus took 7 years longer than Mercedes to make full length curtains standard on the GS!
