i can honestly tell you guys that there isnt much room so whatever sub you decide to replace it with needs to be pretty shallow. i have the factory pioneer system and not the ML but the sub should be the same size and location.

I normally listen to Depeche Mode, Cure, and 80's. One day I decided to throw in the CD Too Short "blow the whistle", crank up the volume to 40 with bass setting +2, and within a few minutes I started to hear the sub rattle.

Don't get me wrong, I love my IS350. The best car I've own to this date.

You're right plus the IS sub is 7.5" in diameter. You would probably need some retrofit kit to install a 8" sub.

If the stock sub is on 7.5", you really won't have a lot of options when replacing the sub. Usually the smallest one is an 8".

If its really 7.5" and no depth for a real sub. then we might have to find the wires going to the sube and neatly tape into them, then dissconnect them from the sub and run a small amp mounted to a small box in the trunk. For a personal 10" sub in the trunk. If you dont want it any more easy to go back to stock. Just removed the box and amp and plug back in the stock sub. I thought someone did this already. Can they give us some pics and wire colors for the rear sub?

What would you suggest on how to install an after market sub and amp? Coz i already have subs and an amp in my truck and i want to install them in my IS 250 now. So ur sayin to tap into the factory amp wires to get the signal instead of the wire from the sub? You had to buy an RF converter or something right? Also, where did u run the wires thru to get to the battery? Thanks

i suggest finding the sub output wires from the amp. the amp is located in the trunk floor. once you find the amp find the speaker wires and disconnect it from the amp and test them to find the sub wires.
