I was considering the Acura TL, Infiniti G35X, and BMW 325xi. The Infiniti handled great and was comfortable but the interior was substandard for a car in this class (dash was just ugly). Plus once I saw the Lexus IS, it was much easier to eliminate for that reason. The BMW was the most expensive car so I was reluctant to pony up another 3-5k for the same options. Plus, the run flat tires are expensive at $300 a pop and they are supposed to last only 20k miles or so--about one year of driving for me. Finally, the reliability was somewhat of a question mark. So that left the Acura TL and Lexus IS250 AWD. The TL was nice, roomy, nice interior, was quiet, and handled well. But it was front wheel drive and had already been out for two years. I really liked the IS, it was quiet, handled well, had AWD, and liked the interior and exterior styling, but the back seat was smaller than the TL.
I then asked my 17 year old son (he has a 2001 BMW 325) who is into cars--which car do you like. "Oh, that's easy", he said. "the Acura TL is a "mom" car, you know something mom would like to drive. I really like the IS." That tipped the scale for me. Who cares about the back seat, I thought, I'm getting the IS! (IS250 AWD Black/Cashmere w/Nav)

Was going to get the 330 until I went to the Taste of Lexus. The interior is awesome, the exterior has great lines and my wife really wanted the 330 until she drove both and said "We are getting the Lexus".

Looked at GS300 first, but then the IS's came out last October. Got to seriously looking in January and February. Considered 330i due to aggressive 2-year leases; looked at MB's CLK350, but I've had 2 Lexuses previously and you just cannot beat their build quality and reliability. Looked at the others, but it was an IS350 all the way.
Blk/Blk, Premium + Nav, ISP's and 35% tint....great looking car and a kick to drive as you guys know!!!!

Lexus Champion
I didn't buy an IS350 even though based on the vehicle itself that was my #1 choice because the dealer wanted to rape me on lease pricing.
Basically they wanted what worked out to be $23,120 over the course of 3 years (7,700 per year) not including maintenance, to drive a basic IS350.
Audi wanted $9336 for 2 years ($4600 per year), same milage (15k), including all maintenance for an A4 with a pretty similar sticker price (IS350 stickered 3k more)
Unfortunately I just couldn't paying 70% more per year, PLUS no maintenance included, PLUS having to keep the car an extra yearbefore trading out, to drive a car that was so similar. The IS350 is definitely faster, but if I really cared that much, a 500 dollar ECU reprogram would definitely help that. I like the IS350 interior better, and it's definitely a higher quality more reliable car, but again - this is a lease - I'll never own this thing, I'll never have it outside of warranty, so I really don't care. And lastly the A4 is just about as much fun, if not more fun to drive, to be honest, especially since it has a manual trans. And since this is a lease and the more practical aspects don't matter to me (quality, reliability, etc) then all I really care about is the fun factor.
