Default New IS250 coming soon.....some ?'s

Hey everyone,

I have posted a few question on this forum before and have a few more for those of you with knowledge on the 06 250 rwd.

1. Anyone have any experience with Amsoil synthetic and is it possible to change the oil around 10k(twice annualy for me) but change the filter every 5k since amsoil does not sell their high capacity filter for the IS yet? I assume typical OEM filters are only good for 5k but the syn. oil is good for much longer.

2. I will be placing blizzaks on the car for the winter months up here in WI. My thought was to buy some closeouts at the end of this winter(hoping for a good deal) and buy 16" wheels with some 205 blizzaks thru tirerack. A service guy confirmed that 16"'s will work but how do you get around the tire sensors without buying new ones?

Any help on these issue would be great. I am hoping to pick up the IS early April, its SGM with black leather & prem. package.

Thanks guys,
Brandon

no oil changing expert here, but i thought it wasnt possible to change the filter without draining the oil first. figure you can change oil without changing filter, but not the other way around

I would stick with the manufacturers recommended oil change interval while the car is under warranty. Or at least get assurance (in writing) that doubling the recommended change interval with synthetic oil won't affect coverage.

I don't believe anyone has found a way to disable the tire pressure management system.

About the oil change intervals,
I called my lexus dealer about the cost of their oil changes and he said about $75 for synthetic and I asked him how long I can go without changing it and he recomended 8-10k. With regular oil, he said the typical 5k. So I assume with using my own synthtic(amsoil), I will not void any warranty as long as its changed between 8-10k, right?

Also, will the tire sensors continue to beep if aftermarket wheels are on or stop once you start driving with just a light on?

if i recall from the oil change write up, the location of the filter isnt in a place where you can take it out and not have a mess, basically near the oil pan drain bolt, I would think the oil would spill all over the place if you try to detach the filter without draining the oil. Maybe he can drain the oil, set it aside, change filter and put that oil back in.

You can change the filter without changing the oil. There will always be oil remaining in the housing, so have some towels handy, but it's not a big deal.
