Default Got hit with a 18 wheeler tire on the hwy

On the way home on 75 (a hwy in dallas), some car in front of me ran over a tore up chunk of a 18 wheel tire, pretty much 80% of the tire and after it ran over it, it hit my bumper and i ran over it.
Well I knew my bumper got f!@#!@#d in the process.
When I got home I had a huge white mark on my bumper and few deep scratches.
I am so mad.. what can I do now?
God.... I just got the car!

Damn These cars are cursed! I hope that you can get it taken care of. Where is the damage on the bumper? Lower portion?

Sorry about your issue.

Being optimistic, is the damage just to the two pieces of plastic on the bottom of the bumper?

If so, those are an easy fix.

Cool

Ugh, so sorry to hear that DFW If it can't be buffed out and looks bad call your insurance company. I think that is what our comprehensive policy is for. I know we hate to have anything happen to our new cars but they can be fixed good as new. At least you are okay.

I hope it can be replaced or fixed whatever..
I am going to take a picture of it tomorrow.
My friend recommended using googone to get the rubbery white stuff off the bumper.
Is this safe for the paint?

dont feel bad. My last car was a Magnum RT. Within a few months of having it I was hit by a catalytic convertor on the front bumper. Actually cracked it.

Less then 12 months later I was hit with what I can only describe as a triangle butcher block. This one cracked it all the way through to the wheel well opening.

Lucky my bosses brother owns a body shop and I got the repairs at cost, but it still took $600 out of my wallet each time.

I suggest getting meguires fine cut cleaner to remove the marks on your bumper. You can only find those at smaller autoshops though.

maybe kragen will have it. if you cant find those, you can use cleaner wax. Or you can try the clay bar. Though, I have not used clay much

Back in the day, 1995, we had a brand spanking new C220 Benzo. My wife takes it out, runs over a blown tire from an 18 wheeler, jacks up the front bumper, beyond belief. Then, of course, the Benzo tire rolls over the blown carcass and spits it out the passenger side, mucking up the passenger side door in the process.

$1800 and one very unhappy husband later, we had it fixed.

I feel your pain.

To answer your question Goo-Gone won't hurt your paint and does a good job busting sticky rubbery stuff. It's a citrus based solvent and pretty mild.

It was right around Haskell maybe a bit near Mockinbird.
I was going North at round 6:45pm and it was in the 2nd left most lane.
The beater in front of me hit it, and then I did.
I could not swerve there were cars everywhere.
Thank god it was scratches on the bumper and not a cracked windshield or dent in the hood.
Arent 18 wheelers supposed to phone this stuff in and get it taken off the damn road???

Thanks to all who replied, will post pics for more details tomorrow when its light outside.

On 75 between Parker and Plano Parkway exits I nearly hit a 2X4 laying in the right lane. Don't have my IS350 yet but it is on the truck and supposed to be here today or tomorrow.

Oh man, sorry to hear about that, I hate those damn tires. Hope you get it patched up soon.
The same thing happened to me down in Orlando last year while I was driving my ex-girlfriend’s BMW. Only when I hit the tire, it busted the driver side fog light in addition to the mangled bumper.
