If faced with the choice between two cars, same chassis, different options, and the main difference being the motor, I'll always take the bigger motor. I could care less about NAV. Everyone's got their priorities, you need to figure out what yours are because no one can answer the question for you.

I wonder how feasible it would really be to add a stock nav system to a base 350?

It's possible, but it will cost thousands more than getting it factory installed. Not only do you have to change the screen, but also the antenna to allow GPS. You also would have to integrate climate, audio, menus, telephone, back-up camera, etc. to the screen. Don't forget about labor.

It would be more economical to add a nav screen via aftermarket video/audio system. This may also look more "pimp" if you want the techy bling look...

isn't that the reason they make bimmers and G35 coupes?

IMO the bigger motor is always the MUST HAVE option, everything else is secondary..

I'm not young anymore (32) and never street race, but I just don't see myself being outrun by my parent's 268 horsepower camry...

If you look at the nav units, its one entire piece from the bottom of the top dash vents to the top of the ash tray. Its one honking unit.

Since there are still buttons (climate, audio etc) on the non nav, I would imagine that the wiring harnesses are identical between the 2. Since both "units" control all functions, the only differences should be internally.

The only thing missing would be the antenna. But from what I remember when I took my NAV/ML unit out, there was a single wire that I believe was the GPS antenna wire, like all NAVs that I have seen. There also isn't any magic location for GPS antennas either. Its as easy as stuffing it into the dash.

So I wont say its a sure thing, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out all together. It isn't long before these cars start showing up in wrecking yards.

If someone here in the bay area has a non nav unit, I would be happy to spend an hour swapping my unit out with theres to see if it works.

Base 350. I would definitely go for the performance. Nav is nice, if you want to spend the $$$. However, unless you travel alot to unfamiliar places, I'm guessing you won't use it much. However, you'll be loving those extra 100 horses everytime your foot is on the gas pedal.

You can always buy handheld GPS or addons for Palm or laptop. I've never used them, so I don't know how well they compare. At least you won't have to hack them to be able to use it.

I would take IS250AWD + NAV over IS350 anytime especially when living in NY.

However, it gets more complicated when you try to choose between IS250RWD + Nav and IS350. If you believe IS250 is quick enough for you (it is quick enough for me), I would opt for Nav (bluetooth, camera, integration, etc.).
