i really don't care what the dealer interest rates are, as soon as my car comes in i'm going to a credit union which will guarantee at least 1% less. I'm hoping for 5.99%

Same here. But for a different reason. My plan was always huge huge down payment + trade in + 12 months = car paid off.

Need to be flexible for 2007 and/or 2008 models.

Great advice, just make sure your loan is simple interest and that there is no early payment penalty. Obviously, banks are losing money if you pay it off early, so sometimes there will be enough penalty that it will cost more to pay it off early. I don't think this is quite as common as it used to be. Any CPA's out there?

Check that link posted above.
Credit unions seem to be giving out the best possible rates. Even under the prime

I got approved in 15 seconds through this website I have used before:

www.peoplefirst.com The rate as of today for New Dealer purchase is 5.59%

Once approved, I received a check for the amount I requested the next day. This company is very easy to deal with.

GOOD LUCK.

I got 5.7 through AAA/ Capitol One.....

I screwed up though........I should have gone through Costco. I could have had 5.4%. I was going to cancel and reappy, but my car showed up and I said F-it......

It would have been a difference of $5 a month on the payment.

Interesting post. While I think I'm going to lease I still have time to look at all options. When at this site I did not see anything about paying off the loan early and if there was a termination fee. Do you know if there is a fee? If not I'll send them an emial.

I know with Capitol One, there is no early termination/prepayment penalties. I had one loan that was like that as well, but interest was front loaded and when I went to pay it off, the balance was waaaayyyy high and I hadn't paid much principal down.....I was pissed beyond next week about it, but I had signed the contract so........

Now I read EVERYTHING!

5% 5 years (could have been 7 years), Meriwest.

But I think your credit score needs to be >800.
