Night Lighting
Just wanted to know if you guys are using the dark lighted map on the nav at night or if you leave the white bright one.
Tonight I got in my IS350 for the first time and noticed how bright it was. I turned it down on the dash and the map went to dark backround and it was much better.
So when the headlights go on do you reach over and turn the dash **** to the dark backround map or do you just leave it?
I find it weird having to manually switch it between day and night.
Thanks
Pete

i left it in day mode (bright) for the first week cause i was so proud of it. then noticed it was way too bright, lighted up my face so people could see who i was in the middle of night as i passed them! anyways, now it switches straight to dark when i turn on my headlights i think.

The most popular setting is turning it all the way clockwise until it clicks to "Always Daytime" mode, then back off counter-clockwise and stop right after it clicks.
Then let the auto-dimmer take care of it. When it's bright outside, the dash lights will be on full-bore with the NAV in daytime mode. When it starts to get dark, the dash lights will back off a bit and the NAV goes into nighttime mode.
In this setting, you should never have to touch the dimmer **** again.
Please note that the sensitivity for the dash lights to change between "daytime" and "nighttime" mode are different from your headlights in auto. In most cases, your headlights will turn on first if set to auto as it is getting darker before the dash/NAV goes into night-time mode.

Kermee

Next time you're in your car:
#1. If not switched to "Auto" already, switch the headlamps to "Auto".
#2. Hit the "DISP" button.
#3. Make sure "Day Mode" is not enabled. If it is, disable it.
"Day Mode" is a memorized setting, even after the vehicle is turned off. So you people who can't figure out why your NAV system isn't going into "night-mode" even when the dimmer isn't set all the way clockwise... now you know.
Cheers,
Kermee

When I'm done w/ the NAV, I go back and turn Day Mode off.
