Default IS 250 RWD with 17-inch wheels

I have decided to get an IS 250 (with Automatic, Premium and Navigation). I would like to get a decent price and special ordering a car would seem to make that much harder.

My first choice would be a RWD. I don't need the extra sportiness of 18-inch wheels. I don't want to pay extra for them and would rather get better tire mileage. Even though "standard" is 17-inch wheels, I have not found a single vehicle that was not upgraded to 18-inch wheels at the factory.

Does anyone know of a region of the country where Lexus is delivering a RWD with 17-inch wheels?

Does anyone know of a dealer that would switch out the 18-inch wheels for 17-inch instead of me making a special order for a car?

One possibility is to get the AWD since they come standard with 17-inch wheels but again I would be paying extra and getting poorer gas mileage.

Thank you for any thoughts on the subject.

I attempted to do the same thing in Nov, but wound up special ordering. Lexus of Austin offered to swap out the 18s with the 17s from the GS, but I would've still had to pay for the 18s. They also would not have been staggered. At the time, they wouldn't/couldn't order 17s by themselves.

I looked around some different zip codes around the country, and did see some places where the 18s weren't standard (don't remember which). however they said they couldn't dealer swap with dealers that weren't in the same region. I didn't need the car immediately, so it worked out well. it was a long wait though.

I just got the car last weekend. I am quite pleased with the 17s. I can post some pictures if you want, possibly not until tonight, though.

all the IS here has 18s...but i saw a silver is250 rwd/premium package with 17s on the dealers lot a couple of weeks ago.....it might have been someone's special order who changed their mind.

Thank you for the replies. I am beginning to think that the best way to go will be a special order. The wait is not critical for me. I would like to get a good price, however.

Default NE regions has RWD with 17"

The Northeast Region gets RWD 250's with 17" alloys and premium packages.

I guess if you wanted to work with a dealer and have it shipped to you, that's a possibility.

If you go that route, I'd suggest contacting Lexus RiverCenter in Kentucky, just outside Cincinnati. Their Internet sales guy Keith Frasher is great. He searched his entire region to find me a car. Unfortunately I wound up doing a deal with my local dealer on a special order. But I wish I'd worked with Keith sooner in the game. Keith really works with you.

i did special order... 12/14 to 3/3... 11 weeks . is 250 rwd with 17" wheels. looks just fine... perhaps not as sporty as the 18s but there is no rubbing and the turning radius is fabulous. by the way i also got the premium, nav and lux packages... LOVING it.

If you do have a chance to post some pictures featuring the 17-inch wheels, I would be very interested. Thank you.

Nally Lexus in Atlanta just got a shipment of 250's and they put on 18' wheels if asked for a few more $$. MAy be too far off for you.

Check dealerships in Florida too. I was about to drive to Miami to pick up an IS but my dealer said they had my car coming in. Be prepared to wait for your car though. It very much so in demand.

Nice, I opted for 18" for a little more although I hardly see the point in what I did.
