Mine makes a rattling noise whenever I go over a rough spot in the road... So basically any vibrations in the car make a weird sound come out of the RV mirror. Is this only an isolated incident and what do you suggest I do to fix it?

Thanks

OK the Mirror only should shake if you have vibrations on your windsheld. Some cars don't attach their rearview mirror to the windsheld which helps reduce this problem.

That's a good point, and it gave me a thought--I am guessing that part of the reason the IS mirror shakes so noticeably has to do with the acoustic glass in the windshield. The glass has sound-absorbing qualities, and the vibration from the sound waves it absorbs has to be transmitted somewhere.

Aclarke, your excessive rattling from rough spots on the roads sounds like something you may want to have your dealer take a look at. That doesn't sound normal or acceptable.

Definately not acceptable one bit... Funny thing is that when the mirror is positioned differently, no noise... just my luck that the noise only shows up whenever the mirror is usable!

I have the same problem, sunroof open (regardless of stereo level) rearview mirror shakes to the point I can't tell what type of car is behind me. I think it is a part quality issue since not everyone experiences the rattle. I haven't been to the dealer yet but will address this at my first service. Not acceptable for a 40K vehicle.

Mine shakes whenever the radio is over 30, or on rough roads. I thought it may be loose...I took a closer look and the mounting is solid. What vibrates is the mirror itself, the mirror mounting/leg/bracket does not.
I think is is a byproduct of how the mirror floating ball joint is attached.

In my 5k service I'll bring it up to the service advisor see if anything can be done about it.

Has anyone taken it back to the dealer to get it addressed?

Mine does shake but it does not shake more than any other car that i've driven. It isnt to the point of annoyance. Does not make a difference whether I have my windows or sunroof open or not.

Mine always shakes it seems when im above 50-60mph. Its a tad distracting, but the side mirrors are HUGE and I rely on them more then anything else.

haha couldn't be more true...my previous car was an 03 Acura CL and I was an expert at spotting cops in my rearview..even at night just by making out their headlights(you can tell by the drls/headlight look)
anyways...yes i get very annoyed by how much that rearview shakes in the IS

I wonder if it has anything to do with the "auto-dimming" feature. The glass may be "floating" in the frame to allow the dimming. Just a thought...

Oh, and mine also vibrates like crazy w/loud music or bumps...

My 09 vibrates with the roof open, and no radio at all.
