Please help settle this bet - Toyota/Lexus
One of my co-workers insists that the Lexus is marketed as a Toyota in Japan - he thought it was the Crown - I say that used to be the case, but they now branded as Lexus worldwide, including Japan...

Only as of late has the Lexus brand appeared in Japan. Remember the IS is the Toyota Altezza in Japan. Or at least it was in the IS300 Generation. I'm not sure if it still bears that badge.

Your friend is right when you consider last year and any year before that. All Lexus cars were marketed as Toyota in Japan. In 2005, Lexus debuted in Japan for the first time and they renamed the cars to Lexus over there like rest of the world.

Yup last years models were marked at toyotas. The old IS300 was the altezza over there but all the new 06 lexus over here and now morked as lexus over there. The new IS is also the lexus IS over there now. The crown is still a toyota crown over there. But probley when they change the body style and such they will change it to a lexus possibley.
