Top speed acheived in your 2IS? (merged threads)

Maybe you didn't keep your gas floored toward the end. If you don't keep it floored all the way the IS will automatically shift to a higher gear and you will lose power guaranteed. The last two gears (5th and 6th) are weak so if it shifts to 5th too early you will lose power even more. If you were doing right and that 335i is stock then you should be good till about 110 all the way upto 125 mph. I have ran against a 335i sedan a while back, from 0-110 mph on a state road. I beat it by a fender. Basically dead even.

That's a too strong of word you used there, don't you think? Sounds like you raced with one and you lost?
I know quite a few CL members here ran against the 335i's & E46 M3's from a roll and were able to keep up with them as long as you don't get into beyond 100 mph area. There is a member who owned both IS350 and E46 M3 (Convertible) and were dead even from 60~ 120 mph. He got pissed off and got rid of the M3. There is another member (forgot his name), in his stock IS350, chased a 335i from a roll and stuck behind him like 'glued' to the back of 335i. I believe the speed range was from around 60~100+? Anyways, getting murdered is a bit exaggerating. How did you run the car exactly when you raced him from 60~80? Not every IS350 owners know how to push the car to the limit.

I topped out around 136 this last summer going N on I-5 in North Cal. It was the most exilerating moment in my car followed by the least exilerating feeling when the '08 Mustang GT I was racing passed me by. We were going on a slight decline of a absolutely striaght stretch and I had a Passport 8800.
