Here is an article in thecarconnection.com comparing IS350 and BMW 330i. The author ( he is a jerk ) says IS350 is a nice appliance.

I believe this is a repost, but I'll rant anyways...
I won't argue with him: the 3-Series is more satisfying to drive. The 5% of drivers that are performance enthusiasts can claim that. Lexus will satisfy the other 95% of the driving population with comfort, safety, and technology that BMW can't match at this time. And I'm fine with that...
As it stands today, though, the 3-Series trounces the Lexus in terms of driving satisfaction. The two cars are in different dynamic leagues and that, right there, is the reason that Lexus sells so few cars in Europe. The IS is an extremely well presented and polished product but that's not the same thing as being a great car. I have no doubt that Lexus will sell every car they can build because a fine appliance like the IS350 is exactly what many people want to meet their transportation needs. But for those folks who sometime go for a drive when they really have no place to go, the BMW 330i is the easy choice.

IMO this article is just this jag-off's opinion. Screw him...what does he know? I've driven the 330i and it does handle great...it's a nice riding car to drive. However, the interior is so plain, dull and boring that is borders on cheesy IMO. The exterior is ok, but not even in same league as the new IS's aggressive lines and looks.
I could have gone either way, but when I considered the IS350's LOOKS, the HP, the ride and drive, the amenities and comfort, the Lexus reliability, the LOOKS and, oh by the way, the great LOOKS of the new IS there was no comparison.
BMW better offer 3 years/50,000 free maintenance because we all know the non-reliability of their friggin cars! Combine that with their cheesy interior and the fact that there is a million of them on the road, I opted for the cool looking, not so often seen IS350.

I'm not sure how this reviewer passed the vision test to qualify for his driver's license in the first place. He appears to be under the impression that: (1) the new 3-series generally looks good; (2) the new IS looks like it, and not like the new GS; (3) that the old IS looked better and more distinctive than the new; and (4) that the IS's interior looks cheap and BMW's doesn't.
Yeah, O.K. Moving on.
He also seems to have trouble figuring out (1) Lexus's rather intuitive interior controls (which several other reviewers have given high praise for their ergonmics) and (2) the fact that maybe the reason BMW sells a lot more cars in Europe is that BMW is a European company that has sold cars in Europe for almost 100 years and Lexus is a Japanese outsider trying to make inroads in Europe after launching as a US-targeted brand less than 20 years ago.
I didn't mean for this to turn into an ad hominem post. But I think it's important to consider the source before deciding how much weight to give to a review. This reviewer seems to be grasping for ways to support his preconceived preference for BMW, so I would not let his opinion detract from my conviction that the IS350 is definitely the right car for my money.

Sorry.............
But I have owned both cars and would take the Lexus hands down. Although the 330 feels more positive in the curves and steering is supurb, the 350's motor and interior send the 330i packing in shame. And that's not discounting the 350's handling much either. It stills feels solid and well planted, but there is a wee bit more body roll and road feedback is a little too much to my liking in the 350.
I'd rather compare the IS 350 to the BMW M3, a car more suiting for going toe to toe with the Lexus.
The review on that site obviously has German fever, just like most of the Euro owners out there.........Funny....maybe they should compare reliabilty and electrical work and see who comes out on top.........

"Horsepower isn’t always the only thing." Seems like an excuse to me.... The IS350 has better interior/comfort and Lexus has better reliability. Styling? I'll leave that to the owner. Anyone want to write a review and title it "Handling isn't everything when it's the only thing you have."

I think (know) the BMW handles better than the 350. I traded in a BMW for the Lexus. I didn't base my analysis on the handling, because if I did I would have purchased a new BMW. It was everything else that convinced me to go with the Lexus 350.

I just don’t get this incredible desire by so many 350 owners to believe that it’s better in everyway than every other car, and that every reviewer that rates the BMW a better handling car than the BMW is biased. It's not and they are not. If it was 60% of the reviewers saying the BMW is a better handling car than the Lexus then you might have a point, but not when 99.9% say it. You surely can't think they are all biased towards European cars, or the reviewer was paid off by BMW, or that the magazine is worried bout about losing the BMW advertising dollar. Lexus advertises as much as BMW, if not more.
The 350 is a fantastic car, probably the best balance of performance and luxury for the buck, but it is NOT an M3, and will probably never be one.
Just as Lexus will continue to refine the 350 (or whatever it’s called in the future,) BMW will continue to enhance the M3.

I remember reading that when I was researching vehicles. I don't even remember if I read the whole thing before clicking the back button. Only negative write-up I came across.

Take a look at Metero's experience in AutoX with VSC off, on track, just to stir things up a bit
