The RX group is lumped together, too, so what?

This is what he is talking about, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_IS

You probably shouldn't dismiss wikis so quickly. Wikis are based on the notion that rather relying on a small group of subject matter experts, as are used to compile and update a traditional encyclopedia, that the online community at large, working collaboratively, can do a better job. Like blogs, they are way more than a curiousity or fad.

I have a few issues with the entry for the 2IS. First, it says that the Alteeza name ceased to be used with the new model. It would be more accurate to say that the new IS is not based on that model, it is a new design based on a shortened version of the GS. Second, the article indicates that the IS was intended to slot below the ES in the model lineup. With the 2IS, the model range actually brakets the ES range, with the base price of an IS250 below, and an IS350 above, the base price of an ES330.

If you don't like it, change it. That's the point of wikipedia.

While I agree with one point, I don't with the other.

Well, It's true, The Altezza name ceased because Toyota brought the Lexus nameplate to Japan. The 2IS is based on a NEW Platform. Not the old Chassis. When they redesign vehicles, they don't usually use the old chassis, they use new chassis, or borrowed platforms from their other model line up. So I don't know where this is not accurate. The 2IS still derives from the old IS which is the Toyota Altezza. So just because it is based off a shorten GS chassis, doesn't make the IS's history a GS. If Toyota still maintained the Toyota marque and not bring over Lexus. the new 2IS will STILL be called a Toyota Altezza, and the new 3rd Gen GS would be called a Toyota Aristo. That would be without a doubt.
