A change from the original offset will change the OEM suspension geometry, and it will affect handling, mostly directional stability.

any tire upgrade or suspension upgrade will overshadow any performance gains from just offset changes it will be hard to tell any difference, camber may go more negative but a suspension change can make camber go way more negative than offset will.

OK, fair enough, but he asked about the effect of offset. For sure it will affect camber and king pin angle/castor and it may be adjusted back to spec. From my experience going from aftermarket 18" wheels with +38 offset with Pirelli Snowsport in original tire sizes(tire upgrade), to the stock OEM Dunlops on OEM wheels,...the difference in performance is very noticeable in terms of cross wind sensitivity, and directionaly stability, and I'll leave out noise, ride harshness, grip,...just my .02
