Does Stock 18" Wheel Configuration Cause Rubbing?
My IS250 will arrive with 205/55 R16 wheels. I am planning to upgrade to upgrade to the stock 18" configuration, but with aftermarket Rays Volk Wheels:
Front: 225/40/18, 18x8, +45mm
Rear: 255/40/18, 18x8.5, +50mm
Q1: Can anyone with stock 18" wheels advise if this causes the front wheels to contact the plastic of wheel wells at all when steering is at full turn? I would like to avoid even the slightest rubbing when turning the car. If there is any rubbing with the stock 18" configuration, I will use the stock 17" configuration instead.
Q2: Can I use 245/40/18, 18x8, +45 for the rear wheels to attain lighter weight, thus faster acceleration, better consumption and lower noise?
Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, 4TehNguyen, for the kind information about the stock 18" configuration
For some non-US markets, the base IS250 model is "equipped" with 16x7 205/55/16 wheels. These give the IS250 the "Corolla" look.
I'm sure 16" wheels have the potential of being quieter and more fuel efficient.

i think you may be better off using 255/40/18s, since there is probably a setting to set your speedometer to that tire size.
Otherwise you want 245/35/18 or 225/40/18s to keep the outer diameter close to what you have.
Finally, 245s require 8.5" wheels for optimal performance
You can also search on ebay for wheel+tire set ups. Thats your cheapest and easiest bet. I see a set going for $800, and one that just expired(unsold) for $1200. The $1200 on will probably be relisted soon.

Dunlops that come on the 18s are suprisingly good for an OEM tire, as most OEM tires are junk

The closest to stock specs that suited my preference and are in stock are CE 28N Rays Volk Rims. These look very good.
However they are only available in 38 offset. Will these work Ok on the IS250?
THanks!
