about 80% of the IS ive seen in houston are 350s, only seen a couple 250s. I think the price difference b/t the 250 and 350 is one of the best bargains for horsepower out there, where else will you gain factory 100 hp from a price different of about 5-6k in a car of the IS's class, Im guessing most people would just might as well upgrade to the 350. Upgrading from a 325 to a 330 theres bigger price difference and not much of a power gain, not a good bargain as the 250 to 350

Although the cars were significantly different (the 4.2 even had a wider chasis), the way Audi marketed the cars made them virtually indistiguishable and the engine option was just that - an option.

With the Lexus IS, it seems that both the branding and the marketing were designed to showcase two distinct cars in the 250 and 350. Given that strategy, I'm surprised that they felt that only a few people would go for the 350.
I can see why they expected to sell so many 250s.
1) visually, the only difference between the 250 and the 350 is the brakes and an emblem that says 350.
2) There are 3 variants of the IS 250, whereas there is only an RWD AT 350.
3) I think the reason the 350 sells so well, is that its a relative bargain compared to the IS250. The 350 has bigger brakes all around, VDIM and 50% more HP, for $4K, not bad at all

100hp for $4k, come on?? The only thing in the aftermarket world that can touch the hp/$ for the IS350 is nitrous....

There WILL (when the aftermarket catches up) be those who spend upwards of $2k on their IS250's on stuff like I/H/E only to get maybe 30whp.......
