Question IS Alarm - the dog bane?

Hi everybody,
I know that the new IS 220 comes equipped with an immobilizer system as well as with a siren alarm.
I think that the alarm automatically activates when the "close" button is being pressed on the key fob.
I wonder if it is possible, in some situations, not to activate the alarm, while still closing the doors (otherwise, leaving your dog - or your kids - in the car while shopping at the mall will always cause the alarm to go off).

Can someone please tell me if there's a way out this maze?

Thanks

A

i don't know how the laws are in italy, but over here it is illegal to leave your kids in the car by themselves while shopping or doing anything else.

True... leaving your kids in the car is BAD.

deuce2,
I apologise for not being aware of it, since I have no kids. That is illegal in Italy too. (While leaving a dog is not, fulfilling certain provisions required by law).

So, everybody please forgive me if my example was ill-suited.

I don't believe there is way without triggering the alarm to activate.

Maybe push the lock button when the door is open then close it?

What's interesting was I was sitting in the car and locked the doors using the key fob. Then I tried unlocking the doors using the door button and they didnt unlock. Was kind of weird.

Leaving a dog/kid in the car would not set off the alarm unless the dog/kid tries to open the door from inside the car.

Thanks jlin101, that solves my problem.
I think then the alarm has perimetral but not volumetric sensors.

I'm sure I'll come to an agreement with my dog, so that it won't open doors or windows while I'm shopping.

As far as I know in Japan, thats not true.
The alarm activates when it senses some movement inside the car (motion sensor).
It happened to me on the first day I went to pick up the IS350 with my dog. My family left my dog inside the car for the restaurant, and I heard the alarm went off very loud (btw those sirens are not common in Japan).

I was told there is way to disactivate the motion sensor.
It won't dis-able the whole security system though.

I hope there is a motion sensor. Otherwise the crackheads here break out the windows and go through your car without ever opening the door and setting off the alarm. They seem to know exactly which cars have the motion sensor and which do not. My 540i (with motion sensor) nevers gets touched. The Sequoia , 4-Runner (without the motion sensor) get windows busted for the loose change in the center console.

in the US there is no motion or vibration sensor--only lock sensor. You can easily verify this by locking the car while sitting inside (with the ignition off, of course); wait until the alarm is turned on, then move and yell inside the car all you want without setting off the alarm. But as soon as you open the door, the alarm will go off. There have been cases of burglars breaking in by opening the windows (using the door lock window/sunroof switch) and climbing through the window without triggering the alarm. Perhaps Lexus uses a different system in Japan and Europe...
