At the dentist, yes (it was fun ), but not on the car.

I'd be concerned about detonation on a car with a 12:1 compression ratio. Might require high octane unleaded race gas.

dude car already is running supper lean. the only way i can see it can happen if u run a direct port design and only running it in the 350 where its 2 injectors per cylinder. but thats still going to be tricky when its already running 16:1 air fuel ratio

IMO, I don't think this car is the type of car you put NOS in, even if
it can "somehow" handle it. Its too classy..

I was researching the possibility but am concerned about the high compression and detonation. It would be nice to have an extra 50-75HP at the strip but not at the cost of an engine.

In regards to the 'classy' comment, IMHO, the 'classiness' of a vehicle isn't the determinant of whether a nitrous system should be used or not.

Below is an email thread from Holly (NOS).

Your question was:
Hi there, I am looking for a DIY dry or wet kit for my 2006 IS350. I do not want modify/upgrade any internals; can you recommend which kits would work for this motor?

It is stock with an intake from LMS.

3.5-liter V-6
Horsepower: 306 @ 6,400 rpm
Torque (lbs.-ft.) 277 @ 4,800 rpm
Redline 6,600 rpm
Required Fuel (91 octane) premium unleaded

Thanks!

If you have further questions, please reply directly to this email with history without altering the subject line.

--------------------------------------------

Thanks Joe.

Will the current compression (~12:1) be an issue or will the stock internals be okay?

--------------------------------------------

Hello,

Just make sure to use high octane pump gas and no chips that advance ignition timing. Decrease the plug gap to .035 to .037 and go one step colder on the heat range than stock.

Thanks

That would (almost) be like putting NOS in a 5 series Bmw.. Which
you never see.. I'd personally save the NOS for old cameros and
people with honda civics who saw "The fast & The Furious" one too many times

Some of you guys are beginning to sound like the BMW guys... Horsepower is horsepower no matter how you slice it. I've seen numerous M3s nitrous and a 540i supercharged with nitrous. Just becuase you wouldnt do it to your car, doesnt mean your car is too classy for it. Its all a matter of opinion... Im curious to see how an IS 350 with a 75 shot would perform. It would probably slip into the 12's easily.

I think I understand where he is coming from. I've been to Raceway Park enough times that I can just picture an IS with a fire extinguisher and supplemental instrumentation crudely affixed to the pillars and steering pod, rear seats and trim panels removed to save weight, loads of stickers festooned across the car, perhaps a park-bench sized rear wing, etc.

Well, if I were to go ahead with it, I would put a big aluminum wing, NAWS sitckers on every window and body panel and purge at every light.

Kidding aside, I think the compression is too high BUT if I were to install a nitrous kit, you wouldn't be able to tell it was there (other than a close inspection of the engine bay - the bottle would be in a carpeted enclosure and any necessary hardware would be tucked away).

Even with a 50HP shot and spare tire/weight removal, you might see 12's.

Come on dude. Its a Luxury Sport Sedan by Lexus. Why use nitrous oxide to ruin the life of such a nice car? Its already a 5.1'er.

to blow the doors off some unsuspecting muscle car owner... i think it would be fun. practical no. kinda like the guy who gutted his new IS 350 to make it a track car. people kept flaming him for it. i have a whole lot of respect for people like him who like to test the limits and bascially R&D using trial and error so we know what works and what doesnt. imo, i think assuming that our cars are too classy for nitrous sounds like snobbery.

I'd never do that stuff to mine. It's fast enough for me, and if I get greedy, an intake or exhaust upgrade would potentially be the furthest I'd go...but I do enjoy reading about those that do act as guinea pigs with major mods like this and see how things turn out. Go for it!

To do Nitro on a late model cars a bit more work.

plugs, direct port, and balancing the fuel.

but it can be done, just how bad do you want it.

but the car is just too new for any sure answer, just wait a bit more.

pay to play but don't over pay.

I will like to get a super charger hehe.
