For what it's worth... Just installed my 8500 x50 and it was green to blue and red to orange. Go figure.

When you wire it to the rear-view mirror, does it cut power when you turn off the ignition? I think I remember reading that the rearview power is always on so that if you want it to be ignition dependant, you need to wire it to the fusebox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes... The radar detector turns on and off with the car.

Does everybody mount on the windsheild/mirror? I honestly don't like these locations because people outside of the car can see them. Also, isn't it easier to use the Visor mount? No one would be able to see it from outside the car, and it would be easier to hide from cops in the event that you are pulled over.

Using the visor would be okay for a unit that only has a front-facing antenna, but the Valentine1 has two and needs a bit more clearance for the rear-facing antenna to be effective due to the curvature of the roof. Depending on the mount that you use, it's really not that visible from outside.

I watched a friend of mine hook is 9500ix to his rear view mirror using the blue and orange connections (previously discussed) and regardless of polarity it would not shut off with the car (which is a '08 IS 350).

I lost my bracket with window mount, I would have to order a new one. Is the best one out there the one from V1? Also, did you guys run the concealed setup? If so where did you mount the piece that lights up? It worked wonders in my RSX to have it visor mounted for front and rear, but if I am screwed for rear by using visor mount I will have to adjust.

I came up with a new mounting option. I have an '07 w/o the ML sound system. I took the center speaker cover out and mounted two magnets I picked up at the local Lowes in side the circle on the underside of the cover. They fit in just about perfectly. I just secured them with some duct tape. To the underside of the V1 I attached a large fender washer with some hot glue. Hot glue will hold the washer securlely in place, while allowing the washer to be removed if that ever becomes necessary. The detector is placed right between the wiper arms. The magnets in the speaker cover are strong enough to securely hold the V1 in place. The cord was run under the windsheild where it meets the dashboard, down the driver's pillar to the fuse box, where it is hard wired. I have the remote display, which I attached to the steering column. While I know this does not sound like the most professional of installations, it actually looks good and is very functional. V! works well in this location, and is extremely easy to remove and put in the glove box when required.

I still have mine mounted up on the windshield with the suction cups.
If I didn't have the remote display I'd consider the mirror mount.
I don't understand why the remote mount isn't more popular.

visor mount location is too high and its line of sight might be blocked by the sloping roof.

several socal 2is owners w/ the v1 have it mounted right under the rear view mirror.

I have it mounted under the rear view mirror but everytime i exit my car, I have to take it off.

From what I remember, V1 is recommended to be mounted at the top of the windshield to get the best laser signal. Don't know if it is the same for the 9500i.

if wired properly, it should shut off when you shut off your car.

i'd check to see if the right sources were tapped.

Same here. Messed around with the connections for a couple of hours, and could never get the 9500 to shut off with the car. So I just went back to mounting it on the windhsield, down low, using the cig adapter.
