unnecessary open any sunglass holder to direct wires power for the radar detector. Just pop up the the cover stem and uncrew the rear view mirror and take is out and direct install , no need to soldering either, just using electrical tape and tape its good.... its simple and yet very effective method.... here are some pics....

has anyone done this for a 2010 IS350? I took off the mirror completely and the wiring is different than the ones shown here. It looks like the wiring shown in the ISF a couple of posts back.

The colors of the wires on the mirror of the 2010 IS350 are:
Green
White
Yellow
Gray
Black

This is definitely not easy

Anyone know which wires I should be tapping into for the 2010 mirror?

Green
White
Yellow
Gray
Black

I don't want to pay for a custom install at a shop

Just wanted to send my thanks to Tuxlex on page 2 for posting up how he did the installation... I just did mine exactly the same way on my '08 IS-F today and it worked great. Complete piece of cake.

I have a 10 IS350. On the mirror side, I used the white wire (it's in the corner) for switched +12v, and the black wire directly next to it was the ground.

I did notice more wires on the mirror side than the car side, so the car side colors are black for +12v and white/blackstripe for ground.

Forgot to mention - my mirror has a .8880" diameter shaft, so the 3/4" mount won't work. Luckily Mike is a great guy and didn't hesitate to send me out one with the correct sized hole for no charge (other than to return the other mount)

I'm not exactly sure how I could add more to the post, but here goes.

On the MIRROR side of the connector, there are 5 or 6 wires in 2 rows. In the corner of the 2 rows, there is a white wire. This wire is switched +12v. The wire right next to it, in the same row, is black. This black wire is ground.

On the CAR side of the connector, there are only 3 wires. 1 is constant +12v, 1 is switched +12v, and one is ground. The black wire is switched +12v, the white wire with a black stripe, right next to the black wire, is ground. The remaining wire, whatever color it is, is constant +12v.

If this isn't making sense, I'd suggest visiting a car audio shop and have them hook up the detector.

I have what may be a stupid question. I have my V1 hardwired into the mirror and love the hardwired convenience. But I'm thinking of getting a passport 9500ix for my around-town driving.

The question is - Does anybody know if the power plug for the valentine 1 would work with the 9500ix? Based on the pictures I've seen, it looks like the same type of phone jack, but not sure if its compatible.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, if you go to stealthcords.com, they show the same part numbers for both the V1 and the 9500. So, I'd guess it works.
