Sorry, i am not try to wire power cord to power Valentine 1. However, i want to know how much power it need to power this Valentine 1? I am doing a DIY get a 5v power wire for a Car DVR. The DVR will locate near the rear view mirror. My goal is use 5volts to power up the DVR. Or Using the DVR's OEM has power wires that require 12v power to power up. Anyone have suggest where i can start?

Definitely use a fuse. I did not and 4 yes later the cord shorted out. It turns out that the AC and power steering are on the same fuse as the mirror. So when I blew the fuse, I had no power steering and it took the dealer 2days to trace it back to my power cord.

Did you check the FAQ sticky at the top of this forum? Pretty sure there is a big thread linked there for this

Just as an FYI, the 2011 Lexus IS350 AWD rain sensing wiper box has a white, gray, and black wire. The black wire is power, and the white wire is ground. I used the stealth cord and plugged the black wire into the white, and the red wire into the black.

V1 install on a 2011 isf
Thanks to rys for letting me know this valuable info on using the power from the sunroof, install time 15-20 mins mainly to make sure the unit doesnt scratch or break stuff while doing install, rys u are right sunroof is the best place to wire. Here are some pics i also took of install. Didnt use the fuse either its much easier to change sunroof fuse.

Just did this yesterday and for what it's worth on my 2006 IS350 using the actual V1 cable I had to go red to orange and green to blue for it to work. Once I did though it worked great.
Also...to double check if I go with the Country Joy mount I would need the 3/4" for the old style 2006 mirror correct?

Looking to install my radar detector (escort x50). Kind of old, but do you guys still think it's a good one?
And what do you guys hard wire it to? I seen some old response about wiring it the moon roof? But is that safe, don't want any wires or harness to burn out.
Some of my friends said to wire to the radio fuse. And to use this:

And to use the direct wire cord for the Escort:
What do you guys think?? Thanks for the help.
